help!!!! cel p0441 and also blinking trac off
well the story starts a week ago when i had my trans fluid flushed. firestone had problems withtheir machine and it coated my entire engine bay with trans fluid.
no big deal right? well i went home to clean it off since no one was open to do it for me, they said they would pay for it but i had to wait. so i use simple green and clean the motor pretty well, until i took it somewhere. i started tp get codes 0441 and 0446. i kept resetting the cel and eventually only 0441 came up. it stayed off a couple days until i had the motor power washed at the toyota dealer. so on my way home tonight the trac off light started to flash while the abs light stayed lit. so i get to the acura dealer(shopping) and reset the light and only get 0441. i reset it. on my way home i get the flashing trac off and abs light on and i check for codes and i get nothing. i remember the old way of getting codes by jumping the te and e1 or whatever it was. i jump te1 and e1 i think w/o going to the garage. the codes i get from the flashing trac off was 43 codes from abs were 22,25,28 codes from airbag 44 any help would be appreicated |

Take it back to Firestone and have them Diag it for free since they screwed up. If you came in for a tranny service the tech would notice the MIL lights on and recommended a diag anyway, so there is no way he can say the car came in with the codes

didnt take it back to firestone. but the lights havew not come back on since it dried out. so it has been a couple thousand miles since.
it came back on when i was using the ac last night. so i reset it and it didnt show any codes. i did that twice yesterday. this morning on the way to work i didnt have any problems |
The codes will come back. The reason they havent yet is that 1) the monitor has not run yet due to driving conditions or clearing codes over and over and 2) Intermittent VSV failures. Sometimes they get stuck. Toyota has THE most sophisticated EVAP system out there. After you clear codes the pcm requires a very exacting driving procedure to even be able to detect a problem. And its has to be done twice. Im not gonna go into this though.
PO441: Check the EVAP VSV and canister VSV by applying battery voltage to them and listening for a click. If you hit it with something and it clicks, its intermittent; if it dosent click at all, its bad. PO446: Is always always always a bad Pressure Switching valve which is near the fuel tank. So check that too. This code is not as prone to tripping as the 441 If the solenoids are good, check for leaks. Especially the canister. Your tranny codes and ABS codes are probably speed sensor problems. |
well, i thought the es had a canister, i could not find anything that resembles what a typical toyota charcoal canister.
the cel and abs light still come on, but the only times it does come on is when it is above 80 degrees plus higher humidity when the ac is on. it doesnt come on any other time when i try to pull a code, nothing. also, once the car if off and restarted, it does not come back on |
well, the codes keep on coming back. went to auto zone and they read it with their obd-II and said it was a purge valve selenoid, so i take it that is the canister near the rear axle?

took it to the lexus dealer,i called lexus corp and expressed my displeasure and they paid for the diagnosis. so i was correct with the canister plus i have to replace a air fuel sensor, so $400 in parts shipped. i sure hope this is all
|
replaced the canister, it took more time to rip out the old one than it took to install the new one. the 2 codes are off, now i just need to get rid of the 1133. the a/f sensor should be here any day
|
ok, i replaced the a/f sensor since it was weak. now i have the trac off flashing as soon as i start the car.
no codes from the reader, but when i jump the terminals, i still get code 43. i am assuming that one of the sensors is bad, but whick one??? |
