1992 Es300
I have searched though about 40 or so posted and I found there seems to be and issue with this car and the transmission slipping. I'm about to buy a 1992 Lexus ES300 for $1500, but the only issue is the transmission slips out of gear, it is an auto. Does anyone have any thoughts on what this could be, do you think i will need a new tranmission or could it be something else? The car has about 120k on it. Any thoughts?
Now here is my biggest issue, I HAVE to drive the car about an hour home. I know this is a HUGE HUGE NO NO, but I really dont have much of a choice seeing as there is no other way to get it home. I'm not sure if it is a filter, fluid, or something else, for all I know the trans is completely gone (more than likely). What do you honestly think the chances are of me getting home with it? Like I said I know driving it is going to kill the tranmission, but I can get a new for $500 I just want to know if I can get it home? Any help would be greatly appreciated |
Yes, when the tranny is gone the first symptoms on the ES and the Camry is that it slips out of gear... this car needs a new tranny. You might be able to rebuild it... depending on how bad it is... but I can assure you... this is not a tranny fluid or filter issue...
