Default Car won't start! New problem =(

I was parked out in and I had my car off, but the keys were still in the keyslot. The car, I think, was turned all the way off. The stero, lights, engine, all were off. And I had the car like that for several hours and then all the sudden my car would not start. It is not the battery, because lights are still comming on inside the car and everything. What the hell happened? It makes a sort of clicky sound when you try to start the engine.

I am thinking it might be some sort of security feature, but I am not too sure. If I press the "alarm" button on my door unlock/lock remote the car will not go off and there is a small clicking noise that seems to come from under the hood.

I don't know if these two problems are connected or not.
Anyone with some knowledge would be greatly appreciated.

Have you tried jump starting it? It's probably just your battery, even if the headlights come on.

One easy way of checking the battery is to watch your interior lights while you try cranking the engine. If they dim down, or go out completely, it most likely is a weak or defective battery. Also, check the battery terminals to see if they're clean and tight.

Clicking noise is always a weak/dirty battery but make sure you have no corrosion anywhere on your battery, and if you jump it more than 2 or 3 times scrap the battery. Repetitive jumping kills battery life
