New Tire Dilemna

I've reccently blown through all four of my tires, and am looking to upgrade to a set of high-performance tires. I'm looking for advice on what tires you all would recommend to fit the following criteria:

-I want to get rid of the road noise currently caused by my tires
-I would ultimately like a set of tires with an emphasis on performance
-I need them to do well in the rain
-I drive this car all the time, roughly 19k miles a year

Any advice? I was originally looking at Michelin Energy -- but I'm not sure they are the best bet.

Thanks in advance!

Continental Contitouring

I am not sure if these tire is in ES300 size because I dont have them on my lexus. But on my Mercedes I have Continental Contitouring . I would say it is a good balance of all three which you mention. They get good traction even in snow, less road noise then my lexus facotry brand and they seem to have good wear versus my ML320 Dunlop Grandtrek (expensive crap tires). BUT all good things have down side, they are not run flat, and if you buy them from a Mercedes dealer they can be very expensive. I bet if you find them online you could probably get them for under $120.

you fail to mention what size tire you prefer.

If you are looking for 15-17 inch, then seriously look at the Michelin Pilot Exalto A/S.

If you are looking for an 18 inch tire that will not see snow, then seriously look at the Goodyear Eagle F1 GS-D3.

I currently run on both and have never regretted a minute. The best two tires so far I have ever put on my ES.

Depending on your size, I've repeatedly ordered the Yokohama AVS dB S2 tires from Tirerack. Great grip, quiet, good performance. Just a bit short in the snow (the M+S is bs) and the treadwear is a bit softer and wears a bit faster. I usually get 15,000mi out of them (treadwear rating is 320).

try Kumho Ecsta SPT and they are cheap and good performance. see reviews at www.tire.com

A good choice if your budget is tight are the Falken Ziex ZE-512.....excellent wet weather performance & 60k mile treadlife in 60 & 65 series.

I ended up going with a set of Yokohama Avid H4S tires. They were put on Wednesday and I've gotta say I couldn't be happier!

You're probably right -- it did take some skill. The two on the front were completely worn down, however the rear tires were fine tread-wise, but had cupped out really bad. So, I went ahead and popped on all four new ones. I didn't want to have the road noise that came with the two in the rear being cupped.

Besides, it was an excuse for me to do what I had been wanting to do all along. ;)
