All right the first intake Cosmo Racing sent me was all wrong. Nothing fit, it turns out (according to Cosmo Racing) it only fits the 97 and 98 model years. I ended up sending the intake back and they in turn sent me a custom pipe for my 99.

The increased throttle response and HP can definitely be felt. Maybe a 5 to 10HP increase, but that is just a guess on my part. All I can say is that I am extremely pleased with the intake. Moreover, you cannot forget about the sound... much improved over stock.

Cool

Good job & you didn't even have to pay $250 bucks for it.

Haven't done much to the ES lately since the tanabes and Kyb and wanted to bring this OLD OLD thread back by Pheonix regarding the Custom CAI he devised for us 1MZ owners. Any other members here performed this mod? looking for some feedback or anyone else looking to perform this Mod in the near future. Anyone game?

I was under the impression that hose was to recirculate combustion gases from the crankcase, thus improving mileage. Someone correct me if I'm wrong?

I took his setup and modified it. Put IAC at bottom and PCV on top. I'm sure others have done this so its nothing special. Phoenix had some interesting things done to his car.

as cool and simple this intake build is, it will absolutely destroy the low end torque.

my setup is a 2 feet long aluminum pipe with 3 ports welded on top. one for valve cover breather, another for idle air valve, and the third for the PS idle up. drilling on the AFM is not really a good idea tbh.

Sorry for dead thread revival but has anyone tried a K&N Apollo?
http://www.knfilters.com/universal/apollo.htm

I have a 2000 es300 and was thinking of ordering one.
Seems to me like of all the "cold air intakes" it's the most likely to actually intake cold air... and even if it doesn't it sounds cool haha. I would like my car to make SOME noise at all instead of being dead silent so this would be perfect for me.

I would however like to try your type of intake, only prob is mine is a 99 and a lot different. Just woundering if u knew nething about the 99's.....coming off the intake are dual pipes going into a box, then into a single pipe where the mass air flow sensor is, then to the intake box...

http://lexus.sewellparts.com/oem-cat...S300-2000.html

This will give you a part number and everything. I'm seriously considering getting the K&N Apollo and doing a write up for it...
