04 ES330 Spoiler

I've read many of the posts that talk about spoilers for the ES330s and still can't pull the trigger and purchase one. Please, someone who has purchased an after market spoiler and is happy with the product...please advise. Which product is the most like factory? Keep in mind, if it's not perfect...it's not going on my Lexus. Thanks....

By the way 2004 lexus is NOT A PERFECT LEXUS so you can't find a perfect one .

Good catch! I should have said "a really nice one". Thanks...

I didn't like the spoiler that my Lexus dealer offered because it was the same one that they put on Toyota Camry's, so I bought the one on the bottom of this post, so you can get some idea how it looks. If you like it you can get it here> http://www.spoilerdepot.com/Catalog....odelTemp=&idB=

Alan, thanks for posting the pictures of your ES 300. Nice car. Did you install the spoiler yourself? Any problems? Did pull the bulb out of the brake light on the inside back deck? Where there good instalation instructions?

my Lexus dealership on the other hand offered and installed the exact same spoiler that Alan bought. (but I bought it first, he copied me. :p ).

have not had any problems with it. It came in Lexus factory color. The third brake light is still there and functional. Spoiler depot also offers free replacement LEDs to customers that have their spoilers dearlership installed. I have the replacement but have not had to install it yet. Over time, the LEDS will give out and there will be spaces in the lights.

I had my Lexus dealer install it for me. I bought the spoiler pre-painted and the match was perfect. I had the option of using both the high mount stoplight and the LED light in the spoiler, which is what I did. I figured that both lights working together would be safer and minimize being rear ended. :)

but if you take out the high mount brake bulb, you will get the dash indicator light on.Telling you that you have a burned bulb.I had to leave my filiment bulb in,When I installed led light in the high mount brake light.

That's true, but you can put in a resistor in line that equals the resistance of the original high mount stoplight. This will fool the indicator light on the dashboard from triggering. This happens since the current draw of LCD's is much less then the filament bulbs. ;)

but they get very hot when you apply the brake for a long time. I tried one, didn't like it.

amf1932 Dec 29, 2005 09:29 AM

Then you have to get a resisor with a higher wattage power rating.......then it won't get so hot. :)

lexus4jess Dec 29, 2005 09:41 AM

how many ohms are you using? :D

amf1932 Dec 29, 2005 03:57 PM

Actually, you first need to check the resistance with an ohm meter on the original hi mount setup.
Once you determine this resistance you put in the new resistor in line with your new setup using the LCD's. As I said before, the power rating of this resistor has to be high enough so you don't burn it out. I would assume that a 5 watt power rating with the correct impedence should be sufficient.

tryed the 5 watt resistor.gets to hot.So I left the bulb in.
