no one answered this? are there little flaps to access the fog lamp under the car, or does the belly pan have to be removed? i need to replace both and just want to be sure either way.

I did, didn't find anything useful. Help me out with a link if one exists and I'm not seeing it here.

If you need help with a 96 ES I can help you out. I can't take pics per se because I had to custom the housing to fit my HID wires into there but I can coach you every step of the way lol. I had to drill a giant hole in the center of the rubber stopper

To replace the bulb, I'd take the two nuts off and lower the whole unit. No need to remove air dam. Unplug the wiring harness by pressing on the clip and pulling on the plug. Then, rotate the part behind the bulb so you can pull it back. Inside there is a wire clip you can easily figure out how to remove the bulb after you unplug the two quick-disconnects inside.

Be sure to not touch the bulb when you put in the new one. After you have it all back together, adjust it with the height adjustment so it matches the other fog lamp when shined on the garage door.

Really pretty simple, but you must remove the whole housing first. I'm sure someone will tell me they did it w/o removing the housing, and power to 'em. I like to work smart, not hard...

BTW, it's a 10mm deep socket you need.

when you say "lower the whole unit" what do you mean by that? do i reach up and in, behind the fog lamp housing, or do you mean the entire lower bumper cover?

I did this 6 months ago and as Rhoderman said, "Really pretty simple," it is so easy it's ridiculous.

Lie on your back and look up there and you will see a 10mm nut on each side (you may also see a Philips screw holding the back of the "shroud" that needs to be taken off - I had one on my 96 ES300). Remove what we said and the fog light can be taken down easily or "lower the whole unit."

While you have it out clean both sides of the lens - windex or some other glass cleaner. Have a flashlight handy just in case and by all means do not touch the bulbs with your fingers. Oil on anyone's skin will ruin the bulb.

This whole procedure for both fogs should only take like 10 minutes, it's not rocket science. There may be another way without removing the housing, but this way is quite simple. Good luck

Excellent - thanks very much for the clarification - sounds very much like an E-class fog lamp bulb change.
