Nice, Pheonix. Nice. I followed your steps two days ago and noticed the difference. There isn't an insane difference, but it's a significant one. Getting quicker acceleration and shifts is worth the bigger engine vibrations when the gears shift.

I did this mod to my RX300 and both my father, my uncle and I can really feel the pull. This helped me to a record 1/4 mile time in December (track opens up Friday again. I highly recommend this mod. Just wait until I get my URD pulley in the next week.

Wow now that is insane. What an awesome thread to bump Pheonix I have to try this on my 97. Also how do I figure out how to adjust it so it doesn't prevent it from going to full throttle.

Pheonix will I get the same benefit doing this to my 92 sc300? I've been having some erratic shifts and its jumping between 3rd and OD when I am just cruising around 45. At one point it wouldn't even shift into OD so I have been draining the fluid over the last few hundred miles (which was really nasty, but is getting better)and it is definitely riding way better now. That jumping problem is still there though and someone said to adjust my kick down cable and I wasn't sure exactly how to, so hopefully this will help. A little bit of extra power would be nice too.

generally, as a rule, when you firm up your shifting you extend the life of the clutches. Transmissions that shift smooth typically subject the clutches to more friction/heat than one that has a nice firm shift. Where I live, due to the heat (hit 121 a couple months ago) the foremost cause of transmission failure is burnt clutches due to the extreme heat.

I can't find the cables you are talking about. Where are they in a straight look at the engine bay from in front of the car?

hopefully this pic will help, i'm not sure what year yours is, but this is of a 92 setup. cable comes from firewall to box (box = cruise control unit) and cable comes from box to throttle body. other cable on throttle body linkage goes to transmission thus being the kickdown cable.

thanks rick. i found it, and did it. i am noticing more midrange rpm power now, but nothing else feels much different. gear shifting hasn't quickened. should i tighten more?

I found the cable but theres now way to turn the nut cause theres a metal part in between both those nuts. What do I have to do to make this work?
