Should I keep it or replace it? (head unit question)

Hey guys, I was wondering. How much would it affect the sound quality if I just kept the regualr lexus headunit in instead of putting like a custom one in?

it wouldnt be nearly as nice as an aftermarket headunit

yes, but would the lexus head unit make it sound crappy at all?

What do you mean by "it"? Do you want an aftermarket radio for something else?

i'm running my system off of the stock nakimichi headunit....and it sounds great, i am later going to change to an eclipse anv unit but for the mean time the stock headunit gives out enough power and clarity for the setup i am running...i know later down the line when i get the eclipse it will be even better but i cant complain for the stock headunit performing so well rite now

I have absolutely no complaints w/stock head unit running with JL250/1 amp and 12" sub. Gotta love the 6-disc changer in the glovvy also.

When I saw your setup at the Brooklyn NY meet last month, I was amazed at the sound improvement of the system, plus you still have plenty of storage room left over in your trunk :)

For some reason, I like the idea of having an integrated head unit rather than one with a flip-out or motorized screen, not to mention that this would block the center air vents. Just my $.02..

I remember there's a '97 ES owner from the LOC site who developed a way to retrofit the factory Toyota navigation head unit into his ES, and not only he's succesfully did it, he even implemented a voice activation feature and reverse camera. That's probably one of the best, most technical projects I've seen on an ES

i have a screen that has awesome sound quality.. 5.1 dolby digital for movies, rediculous clarity, and it doesnt block air vents lol
