Talking tempted to buy this 92 es300 ; but dont want to get screwed.help wit advice, thanxxxxx

HI BOYS,i wrote a post couple weeks back about an es300 i wanted to buy,but im very hesitant because of the age and the mileage.and things ive heard about 92-93 es300's.i heard they have an overheating problems and that its worth to spend more money and get the 94's and up.but i dont have that much.i found a 92 es300 midnight purple with 160,000 miles on it.its a womans car.she says it was always garaged and taken care of,she says its reliable and hasnt given her problems.no accidents.im giving her $2,000 cash for it.i love these cars and dont want to pass one up for so cheap. i want one badly ,but dont want to get screwed cause these cars are a pain or are expensive to fix.give me some common problems to look for and beware of,some warning signs that i should look for so i know to stay away when i go look at it.please help me ladies and gentleman,i need it

I bought a 93 a few months ago. I would look for the following to make sure you dont have a large repair bill.

Struts, push down on front and back, make sure they dont bounce more than once. If its too springy, you could be changing struts soon.

Oil leaks, look for leaking engine oil by the oil filter area. Its right in front of the radiator.

Headlights, make sure they arent too dull and scratched up.

Start engine, put your left foot on brake, put it in reverse, give it gas, then put it in drive, give it gas
have hood open and make sure engine isnt hopping around. Bad motor mounts if its too jumpy.

Do a thorough test drive, note any shakes, rattles, peculiar sounds, sounds when you go over small bumps, braking feel, power, alignment.

Check the power antenna for grinding noises.
Make sure climate control and radio LED's work.
Check fluid levels and colors. See what sort of maintenance was done.

Make sure Check Engine Light isnt on.

2k sounds like a great deal if the car is in decent shape. Let me know what you find.

But definitely do an extended test drive over familiar roads and see how it feels.
Hope this helps.

If that doesn't work out grab a 92-94 ES with about 100-120K and go for one of those bumper to bumper warranties for like 1000. You pay for security, full coverage and a small deductable vs a large bill when something goes wrong. Good luck. I'm at 112K on my 95 which has full coverage. I;m about to get free a/c work done as well as free power steering and anything else that needs repair when I take my car in for service at the end of the month. My total bill won't be more than 100 for deductable and whatever lexus charges for 90K/120K service (getting both done at once)

Where do you get these warranties?
