Question Power St leak? what can I do?

Hello all,

I got fluid leak, like 5-10 drops overnight - passenger side
color wise it's close to power steering fluid
this is what I see from under car
Power St leak? what can I do?-dsc06152sm.jpgPower St leak? what can I do?-dsc06156sm.jpg

Is it really Power Steering fluid?
How I can repair this?
Should I look for any quick fix like Auto-RX or etc? Or replace the hose?

Thanks

how do you manage to clean in that tight space?
What to use to clean? What kind of degreaser to use?
Hot to make sure it's the hose and isn't pump or etc?

thanks

Could be engine oil or transmission oil or a mix. Most any degreaser in the cleaning section of your favourite store will work, spray it down wait a bit then hit it with the pressure washer (don't get too close to the various components). As for access that looks a lot better than some cars I've worked on, BTW the most common PS hose failure is the "high pressure hose" take a look on Rockauto to see what it looks like.

To diagnose first do your cleaning, let dry for a bit then start the engine and watch.

thanks for prompt reply.
I checked oil and PS fluid levels - oil is stable at top dot, but PS is at MIN level, so I thought that one for PS leak instead of Engine oil
I'll check for AT fluid, but it's red color, so I didn't check at all.

When I said transmission fluid I'm talking about the ATF in the power steering system, which uses transmission fluid.

Exclamation where I saw PS leaks

Power St leak? what can I do?-dsc06168sm.jpg

in blue that I see it collects
in red that I saw PS leaks when wheels were in complete left or right position, while engine was running

looks like seal doesn't hold the fluid under pressure
what are my options?
1. replace with like Prestone Power Steering Fluid Plus Stop Leak https://www.walmart.com/ip/Prestone-...32-oz/20746454
2. get pump seal kit and replace seals
3. just add "stop leak"
4. etc

thanks

I plan to add dye to PS tank and use UV light to search for where it's leaking
all are so tight that isn't easy to see
from hood I didn't see anything
under engine I can't go up much to clean hoses

how did you detect leak position?

I used this for my power steering leak. Not a permanent fix but should get you by for a few months.

Did this work? I plan to use just to get by for 2-3 months. Mine is leaking behind the pulley.
