I've checked all the bushings and they appear in good shape. Would the strut mounts cause shimmying? I suspect the bushings at both ends of the rod that connects the sway bar to the strut assembly.

It is probly your rear struts. When your struts go out your springs will bounce around in thier caseings. And it will also make your car sway back and forth a little in the back. What sucks is when your rear struts or your front struts go out, It will mess up your alignment. I had this happen on my 1997 ES300. Let me know how it goes.:)

After repeated visits to the dealership and cost quotes, that almost caused me a heart attack, the correction to the problem was found by a young guy who's learning to work on cars. The problem was the rear driver's side alignment bar. The bushing had gone bad causing the car to shimmy and thump when crossing a bump. I had to replace the entire bar because you can't replace the bushing in the bar ($20 - junkyard).

I'm now ready to purchase tires. Any thought on Yokohoma tires? I haven't decided if I'll go wo with 205/65/R15 H up or 215/60/R15 H up. I would like a slightly wider tire but fear the unknown. Any thoughts?
