don't have a vid of that. and i didnt say the es could break 150.
i just said seans car doesnt have a prob getting up to speed that quickly, bc he has done a lot of work
stock es's take forever to get to 130, sean does it much quicker

i said he can get that fast quickly bc he CAN beat a wrx. his car has good high top end since his work he's done to it

flipside, you've been here this long and you still dont know that seans car runs sub 6's to 60? or that he runs a 14.0 without nos in the 1/4?
if you still dont know about seans car, then you never will

I know this is a week late but you're still active in this thread.... Comments (w picture I didn't bring forward) like that one above are not needed on ClubLexus please It doesn't serve to advance our sense of community. Toys was nice enough to withdraw his comment, let's keep this thread on topic and civil from this point forward please.
----------------------------------------------------
I'm uncertain what year Lexus first added the speed limiter to the ES, I know it wasn't present on some of the earlier years of other models.
My understanding of the what primarly limits a car's top speed (beyond a speed governor or limiter which can be removed / bypassed) are:
a) horsepower
b) aerodynamics (can be overcome with HP but on a decreasing scale)
c) drive ratio / top overdrive gear ratio
Assuming the HP of a car has been increased significantly (via nitrous or other mods) and it hasn't topped out on "c", the top speed should increase if it isn't electronically limited.
The tire size / wheel diameter, etc all impact 'c' as mentioned above. The 'speed rating' of a tire does nothing to limit the speed of the car, it's only the maximum safety speed rating that a tire manufacturer recommends for the tire and not a 'speed limit'. I *well* exceed the ratings of the H and S rated tires on my old built Firebird several times, which was the exhuberance (aka stupidity) of youth. I will never see the "Y" limit of my current Bridgestone S03's tested however.
From http://www.tirerack.com/tires/tirete...eral/speed.jsp
N 87 mph 140 km/h Temporary Spare Tires
P 93 mph 150 km/h
Q 99 mph 160 km/h Studless & Studdable Winter Tires
R 106 mph 170 km/h H.D. Light Truck Tires
S 112 mph 180 km/h Family Sedans & Vans
T 118 mph 190 km/h Family Sedans & Vans
U 124 mph 200 km/h
H 130 mph 210 km/h Sport Sedans & Coupes
V 149 mph 240 km/h Sport Sedans, Coupes & Sports Cars
When Z-speed rated tires were first introduced, they were thought to reflect the highest tire speed rating that would ever be required, in excess of 240 km/h or 149 mph. While Z-speed rated tires are capable of speeds in excess of 149 mph, how far above 149 mph was not identified. That ultimately caused the automotive industry to add W- and Y-speed ratings to identify the tires that meet the needs of new vehicles that have extremely high top-speed capabilities.
W 168 mph 270 km/h Exotic Sports Cars
Y 186 mph 300 km/h Exotic Sports Cars
You can measure the speed beyond the speedometer a number of ways including navigation placement, radar gun (I have one of these), g-tech type device, etc. You guys probably all know this basic 101 stuff, just typing while I'm on a conf call for work but not speaking .
Edit - here are a few top speed calculators

This is just to show the gearing is possible on Sean's '92 5spd using STOCK wheel/tire numbers
Tires: 205/65 R15
Maximum RPM 6250
Top Gear Ratio .82
Final Drive 3.63
159.23mph
OK now for the fun part!
You can take my word for it or not. 3vz-fe limit is @ 6250, however many are run to 6800rpm. Here's how I can back that. Before brining it up, Sean commented that his limit is 6950 in the manual before redline. It seems atleast in the case of my A/T; the 6250 limit is only imposed in Neutral reving, as the shift is done between 6100-6250rpm. If I lock my auto tranny in 1-2-OD/Off I sail past 6250. I've been too wuss to pass 6600rpm, however I don't doubt it can run 6800rpm easy enough.
Top speed w' 6950rpm limit: 177.07mph.
So now the question is not *can* an ES/camry pass 140, it's simply who has the power.
Personally, I know Sean can wether or not anyone else does. The simple fact is the 92-94 ES300 has a drag coeffecient of 0.32. Meaning it's descently slick. There are cars in this same drag class that can do 135-140mph off 220hp. (give or take a bit) And I know Sean puts down much more than that. Face it. P&P Heads + 3 angle valve job alone should have taken him to 220hp.(If you want to take MY word off the research I've done on tuning a 3vz-fe) Not considering the fact he has other mods...
BTW if anyone has the overdrive ratio @ the final drive ratio for a '92'93 A/T V6 ES/Camry I'm intrested to know them...
I bet if the car were run flat out he'd be a chunk over 150... But I'm not asking him to do it LoL!

BTW, why can't Sean speak for himself? I know Sean has been a part of this community for a while now and has been able to speak for himself in the past. Are you his manager?

he did post, but then he deleted it because he felt stupid arguing with you when you will never believe anything anyone tells you, even if he tells you himself

I think because no matter what anyone tells you, you'll come up with an excuse Flip. That's why Sean dosen't chime in. Honestly man, as much as you shoot stuff down, a video from ANOTHER car shooting his going 60mph AND a stopwatch timing mile markers, you act like you would find something to complain about.
btw flip, i just showed you he has no rpm limiter, how on earth can you argue with the limiter now LoL!

You can make all the calculations and hypothetical assumptions but just because it looks good on paper doesn't mean it is in real life.

I got a flat tire today, so when the weekend comes, ill get some video. I dont like jumping in these threads due to lack of interest in drama. Eric and toys both know me and the car pretty well, so they can speak for me whenever they please.

I hope you saw my earlier request in this thread. This is my second warning asking you to stop your comments that aggrevate other members and do not serve to advance our sense of community.
I think everyone has got the idea that you don't think that the ES can go above 140.
