removing speed limiter

I think i have speed limiter on my 2004 es330 ... does anyone know how to remove it?
A chip or sth ... I'd like to improve my performance on my car .. hehe :)
But definitely not exhaust .. maybe header ...

Tires?

Check and see what kind of tires you have first. Stock ES300's are good for about the same as an IS300....140-145 MPH. You'll need Z-rated rubber if you go much faster than this. I don't know where in CA you can drive at those speeds, though, unless you go out to Buttonwillow or someplace like that.

if you wanted performance why did you buy an es330?

First of all yes you do have a speed limiter on your ES330. Why do you need to remove it. It's not like you're gonna be going faster than 100mph anyway especially with your OEM rubber. Obviously you're new to the Toyota/Lexus game since there are no such thing as "chip" upgrades for any Toyota ecu. If you wanted performance, the ES was the wrong car for you. Headers? There are some for the 1MZ-FE but it's obvious this car was probably given to you and you probably didn't do any real research before you acquired this car. :)

Performance would be making 0-60 faster, 0-100 faster, WTH do you need to be traveling faster then 140 for, the brakes and suspension can't handle those speeds, I would advise you to give your Dad back the car cause you gonna flip it approaching a turn to fast;)

BMW?

Yes, especially with a FWD car like the ES that is front-heavy and fairly softly sprung, you are talking trouble if you push it at high speeds. If you want to stay with Lexus, get either an IS300 with the hi-perf tires or a GS400/430. In fact, from what you describe, I think you would be even happier with a older pre I-Drive BMW...especially an M.

Thanks for the response guys!

No Flames please!!
I was given this car after my brother totalled my E36 M3.
Dont get me wrong ... I was just asking .....
I will change my rubber to 225/55/16 Bridgestone Turanza LS-Z which is quiet ....
I missed my M3 but ... i hope i could enjoy this car even more ....
Maybe its time for me to slow down in driving ......
Anyway .... Where can I find bodykits for this car or .... Maybe please send me a picture of a modified ES...
Thanks

Drop in a K&N air filter, then drill a hole in the bottom of the airbox so that it can get more air.
After that forget anything on the intake.

I can't guide you any farther than that. New engine, so I don't know much about it. Obviously you can always just do the standard stuff... Cat back. Get some custom headers made. ect...

It is. When you get to 143, you'll hit the speed limiter which is controlled by the ecu.

beab951 Nov 25, 2004 07:01 AM

Interesting. Then is the speed limiter really the RPM Redline limit the the ECU enforces?

No. The speed limiter cuts fuel when you hit that speed. You're not close to redline when you're going 143 which is why it cuts off at that speed.

YJC88 Nov 27, 2004 09:10 AM

After trying it out .... I dont think I need to remove any limiter as it might cause damage to the car .......
Well its fast but its not that fast hehehe :D
