Default battery drainage

hey
i have a 93 es and my battery keeps crapping out on me
i changed it once and nothing
i checked all the wiring and cables and all that ish but nothing
than i remember the old seller telling me something about the radio and how it would drain the battery
so i pulled the fuse on the radio and left it overnight and than everything was alright.
so do you guys think i need to buy a whole new unit or do you think a mechanic or somebody can give me a diagnosis of wats wrong. thanks ahead of time. happy driving

Cool

I wonder why on earth your radio is on why the car is off.
If you're running through batteries, have someone check your alt. to see if fit's charging the battery.

There are always slight amounts of power drain due to components like the alarm, clock, radio, computer, etc. These will draw a few miliamps of power, but if you find that your battery is going dead in a short time, you'll have to check these out by using an amp meter or voltmeter. The condition of your battery has to be checked also.

yea i checked that, running about 12.5-13 volts
i was thinking that it might be the wiring in the radio or something

There's a thread in the SC forum describing a problem where the lights and dash lights stay on (forever) with the switch off. The answer turned out to be a short caused by water getting into the factory phone connection point. Seems very strange but something like that could be going on here.

Does the radio stay off and not drain the battery if you switch it off using its own power switch?
