Car batteries range from decent to terrible (recent experience) I would go to Walmart and get their Maxx brand or whatever it's called. Has a 3 year warranty and of course Walmart's are everywhere. I don't recommend AGM at all unless your car must have this battery type (hybrids).

Agree; we have had horrible experiences with longevity and reliability with AGM batteries in powersports, ope, and motorcycles the last several years.

I have two of them one recent the other fairly old. Short version is neither hold a charge as well as lead acid, the older one is starting to die and it has lived a very easy life only used in warm months stored indoors in winter.

Region agnostic: Costco 24F or 35.

Walmart value 24F or 35 is region specific. Try to get one with a serial number starting with EP which indicates East Penn mfged. If you need the warranty go up their lineup.

Avoid AGMs as your vehicle is older, and avoid MNC car part store batteries.

Hello,

Not sure how relevant it is for different areas, but at least my local Dealership sells Toyota TrueStart batteries for, at times, half the price of other places, which was quite a pleasant surprise. I've been using them every time I needed a new battery lately, and so far, none had given me any trouble, aside from that time when I left a Dome Light On for the whole day .. again.. They appear to have lower CCA rating than some of the other ones in comparable size, at least if the label is to be trusted, so keep that in mind, but again, I didn't even notice the difference last winter, with temperatures plummeting to -20°C.

Other than that, my 2000 ES300 is still going strong with the Interstate Battery from Costco, apparently I purchased it about 7 years ago at this point, time flies.. No issues with it either, even though I have discharged it to the minimum at least a few times, those ever-loving Dome Lights..

Hope this helps and best of luck!

Tell us your secrets on battery maintenance. double digit years is unheard of today

I just replaced the Costco Interstate battery that the new to me car came with, it was right around 4 years old and failing.
I went with the cheapest 24F at Walmart for $70.(one year warranty). Everything else was over $100. So far so good.

For a no frills/ows you nothing battery that $70 battery is golden. They dont leak and the data i have seen, they are as equally reliable as their everstart max.

No maintenence, I guess because the car is driven only 900 miles a year it not too much load on it.

Was gonna get a Walmart Everstart Max for $139 last week but there was a special for a Seeking AGM for $139 after Cap 1 discount with 4% cash back and I installed it 2 days ago and it seems good, no core required either.
