PO430 Code - Catalytic Converter Question
I have a 2002 ES300 with 190,000. It's a California car and it garaged and well maintained. This code appeared recently and a mechanic advised me that I need to replace the catalytic converter. Car runs fine! No issues at all except the dreaded CEL is now on. Before I order a new cat, is there anything else I should look for? Do cats tend to fail at 190,000 miles? Thanks.
Hello,
This topic has been discussed extensively before, here is a link to one of the threads. Catalysts can be hard to predict, depends on your, or more importantly, previous owner's driving habits - driving in the city, idling a lot, not letting the engine warm up to the operating temperature, using Regular fuel instead of Premium, all of that will reduce the life of a catalyst.
Hope this helps and best of luck!

I thought my cat was clogged making the engine feel like it wasnt getting gas and taking a mike and a half to get up to speed. So i took off the one coming off ghe engine but the problem still persisted. I thoight i read somewhere there might be a 2nd cat somewhere else ¿?¿??????????????
