Exhaust hanging to low

Well I guess I’ll add to this abandoned message being I just a couple days ago had the exhaust redone on my 97 es 300…the reason was I noticed it was hanging off center to the indent on the back panel & very loose. So out of caution I took it to a muffler shop on the corner & left it, telling the guy my concern & it wasn’t noisy except for the rattling around it was doing. He called me later that day stating I needed it all replaced from the cat back, hmmmmm okay.
when I picked it up it was all new but didn’t appear much different as to how it was hanging just newer. He replaced the sensor also & it cost me $930.00…ouch! Thinking it over afterwards and looking underneath, what I should of done before taking it there I could see clearly the new rubber mounts. My thoughts were why did he replace it all when he could of just replaced the rubber mounts for lots less? The old muffler didn’t sound any different than the new one & hung just as low, like they all do I found out to clear the rear axle & sway bar. So I learned a valuable lesson to know more of what’s needed beforehand but it came with a high cost. The car is a second car I only drive around town with 135,000 miles & the old exhaust would of probably lasted much longer, it had been replaced years ago but like I said it’s rarely driven. When he called & told me what he was going to do I was in the middle of a family bbq & the phone reception was horrible so being in a rush I trusted he’d take care of me & just agreed, he done a few other repairs in the past & I was ok with his work, but this has left a bad taste in my mouth. My fault for not being more detailed I guess.

My exhaust tip/muffler hangs a bit low for my liking but I don’t see a way to raise it

To add on this alot of Toyota/Lexus models from the late 90s to mid 2000s (2005) have this, mine included. I went to an exhaust shop and did a resonator delete, and asked them to see what they can do with the sagging exhaust, they replaced all the rusted rubber hangers and it looks better to me now

Yep that’s most likely what could have been done to mine also…but he chose to replace the whole works for $930….to his defense he did call me but I was in the middle of a very noisy environment & told him to do whatever he thought it needed…afterwards looking underneath he could of just replaced the rubber mounts, the muffler was fine didn’t sound any different than the new one & the pipes where just rusty! Live & learn, unfortunately he lost a very good customer for being selfish.
