Nice selections. The Omakase that the wife has ordered contains a grouping of the premium sushi selections. I ran the tab up by ordering individuals.

We'd love to wander the Tsukiji fish market or one of the many other fish markets spread across the ports of Japan. The supermarket sushi has even been excellent. But one has to flap all the way there for such cravings.

^ Looks like you are a bit late for that. The government of Tokyo is currently in the middle of relocating the bulk of the market to somewhere else, away from one of Tokyo's prime real estate area. Although, there are plans to retain some the retail market area, I'm not sure if the magic will remain as well. Fret not though, there is another fish market in Hokkaido that specializes in giant king crabs. That one should be as much a spectacle as Tsukiji ever was.

In these times that area is prime RE and to have a fish market there seems at odds. The move is understandable. And yet to move the market with such significance would be like moving Hollywood to Lancaster or Riverside. Will be interesting to see what becomes in Toyosu. I missed the opportunity because we didn't have a long enough layover to play tourist around Tokyo. Plenty of other markets to visit but that is the big one. Japanology or one of the other variety shows did a look at the market and the future, that was interesting.

Ironically last night we'd been talking about a trip to the Tokyo region. I want to do an ekiben/bento box train meals trip.

that's a pretty decent meal aboard the plane. I'm not sure how most people feel, but I love airplane food. The way they manage to pack all your basic food ingredients into one efficient packet like that, there's a charm about it.
