no question phantom 4 is much bigger and not a light backpack type of deal! it's kind of like a ff dslr vs. a mirrorless or aps-c compact dslr.

Hot off the press!

Just got a Leica M7 with the Zeiss 35 f2 biogon (I know, I know) not the most conventional or classic of the M6 or M3, but I figured some level of automation can't hurt. traded the D750, F3, Nikon 20mm AFD, and 28mm 2.8 AIS. Quite liking the two tone look as well.

Default Sony a6500

Hi guys 👋 Been a little busy, went and bought a Sony a6500, a latest iPad and a new 50" 4k widescreen. All of which can be pretty much overwhelming for a non tech guy like me. I guess it keeps entropy from my door steps.

Barbary

I talk a lot about the a6500 and getting one in the "Sony Hits a homerun" thread, so I'd like to continue about my new Sony a6500 there

I'm pretty late w this but if you are still out there, IMHO I think you can't do much better than Apple and Sony. Its what I have. My starter was was an a6000. Its a little complicated for a beginner (the menu) but has all you need for excellent pics
I would get a zoom for the cameras lens. The kit Sony lens is quite capable.
16-50mm very compact, power zoom, anti shake, inexpensive. Good luck, Barbary

Made a quirky little lens purchase recently, I saw this article:
http://www.sonyalpharumors.com/revie...lan-50mm-f1-1/
I'm a night shooter and am always looking to be able to get deeper into the night, one of the many reasons I upgraded to the a6500, "which has worked out exceeding my expectations". The camera has in camera stabilization.
There aren't as many APS-C lens choices available as full frame so when they come along I pay attention, especially E mounts.
The f/1.1 really caught my eye, thought that and the camera stabilization should get my pretty Deep into the night.

The purchase itself was interesting. The lens is made and sold in mainland China. Its a Sony E mount KamLan manual focus 50mm f/1.1 $169
Purchased it on Amazon and got a delivery date of approx this month or next month there is no KamLan website. I was pleasantly surprised and got it almost next day DHL from China

I haven't done much w the lens yet, I'm waiting for the days to get shorter. I will be posting when I do
A few words on the camera, some may remember I wasn't too happy w my Zeiss 16-70mm, but I have to say the pairing w the a6500 its been spectacular. I've done a number of albums w it I will be posting
click on the photo, it will take you to an unboxing if you care.

Having a "Ton of Fun", happy shooting

What kind of rig are you using for the flying photos?

Updated to the IV with the bundle packages Canon was offering. The IV is wonderful! I should have not waited this long. Also picked up a 600EXII RT to expand on the speedlite side.

I'd seen enough shots from the IV and thought the results good but maybe not as much of an upgrade so I hung onto the III thinking I'd skip a generation. The end of year bundles were very tempting though. Didn't take long to realize what a fantastic imaging tool the IV is over the III. Very pleased at the update.

Any shots from the Mavic Pro Platinum to share?

Getting accustomed to the IV. Set this shot up to try some lighting adjustments.

I picked up a 12mm f/2.8 Rokinon for the a9 and I'm super impressed with the images considering the price of the lens.

The year has come and gone, so too have cameras. Here's what I've bought and replaced over the year.

1. The cheapo F100 has been replaced by the F6. Most of it was for the prestige, but the slightly bigger body pairs nicely with the 35 1.4G. This is my film camera when travelling.
This second generation Pentax 67ii has replaced the first gen 67. Integrated grip, brighter viewfinder, and program-mode to boot. What's not to like?
Replaced the film M7 with the digital M240. M7 was a bit too expensive for a film camera, so I grabbed the digital cousin to give me more flexibility shooting in all situations. Here it is paired with the 35 summicron aspherical.
With the release of the M7, I still wanted a manual crank 35mm film camera, so i bought this super cheap Canon New F-1. The camera along with a 28mm and 35mm lenses come to about USD 400.
