Gotta love the Clif Bar slot! Was it consumed after a day of climbing?
I don't think my phone holder has been removed from that spot since we got the car 6 years ago with the exception of during cleanings. Poor placement for a cell holder though as you have to reach around to control the heated seats. Many-a-times my wife has turned it on full blast and not being able to see it, my goose gets cooked.

I must say my ratio of mountains climbed to cliff bars consumed is not what one would think.
I think the slot was intended for phones back in the day. I think an old iPhone 4 or 5 might fit in that slot. lol. I really want to widen it for a larger phone, but can't think of a way to do it without totally butchering it. My other Lexus (IS200t) is equally as frustrating. Two Lexuses that offer absolutely nowhere decent to put a phone. So my phones end up flying.
In my CT, I put it in the cupholder, unless I have cups in there. then kind of screwed.

I agree that after the iphone 5 & SE, the 6 on up are to tall to fit in portrait orientation (up and down). So we usually just turn to landscape (sideways) and seems to do the job fine. I can't remember exactly, and tried to do a quick search, but my feeble brain is recalling the price being astronomical to upgrade the holder (like $200 or something from lexus), and i haven't come across an aftermarket option that fits the slot. So sideways it is

Oh, no. Phone just sits in the cupholder. I don't like that big phone holder accessory. Takes up too much space and just looks plain ugly. I'm a less is more kind of person. In fact I want to reduce clutter some day by choosing a more snug rear view mirror and somehow deleting the shift **** or reducing its footprint. I hate things that stick out unnecessarily.

^Like a little flay tray? that would be cool.
Make a base mount then you can have custom molded attachments for the popular phones. Can work by magnet so you can toss it in the center console when not needed. it would need to be as minimal as possible. I wish I knew how to 3d print .. lol.
would be cooler to have that slot just deep and wide enough to accommodate a phone then have a wireless charger inside it to charge. Come on car companies.. is it that hard
