Hey Raidin, thanks for your input. No accessories on my car, and usually just a solo driver w/o much cargo. The tires are Nitto, but don't know the specs, about 60 - 75% life left on em. 1134 tanks....your obviously keeping some very detailed records !
Yes, the insurance is a big detriment, but hopefully luck will be on our side. This CT is actually my daughter's (19 yrs) car, her mom cosigned a 4 year loan (State credit union) for her. That 60 mpg is pretty awesome even tho TX is very flat - my car (04 Acura TL) gets high 20s at best, but don't drive much anymore.
How many miles have you racked up so far? We just changed the oil w/ Mobile 1, and thinking of going 10k between changes. From what I have read, the CT gets better mpg in town due to the battery ??

Also, thanks to your reply, I saw that I made a typo. When I said 60 MPG, I meant 50. I used to get 60 with my Prius C before my CT, but the CT barely gets to 52 or 53 at best, which is just about the best average I've been able to get in the 4 years or so I've had the car.
In short, I get 50 or so MPG with my driving style (yep, no hills) and good LRR tires, but right now I'm getting between 45 and 47 with OEM tires.
Regarding city driving. I believe the reason hybrids show EPA ratings that favor city over highway is that highway ratings are usually done at speeds people tend to drive, like 70-80 MPH. If you drive 60-65 MPH, you will get far better numbers, well over city driving. Good city driving MPG requires very gentle acceleration and a lot of low speed driving and regenerative braking. City driving MPG also gets hurt if you have to stop a lot, like having multiple stop signs or red lights in short, consecutive distances. This is why I get far better highway MPGs in my car over city streets.

Raidin what tires do you run? the stock ones? They're expensive... do you feel that it's the best way to go given your long term experience with this car? There seems to be a blurry line as to what's considered LRR tires. Some tires aren't classified as LRR tires but advertise LRR technology in the tread compound. For example the Hankook S1 Noble 2s. The difference for a set of 4 between the Nobles and the OEM Michelins is $304. I wonder if the savings in fuel (assuming there's any) pays for that difference. I should also note that in this comparison, the Michelins weigh 1 lb more per wheel.

Recently I got the BEST mpg EVER on the CT200h on regular gas. I had to resist the urge to just STEP ON IT AS IN MY RCF. I was traveling on relative flat roads in the middle of the desert nowhere going about 65 mph just after I had gassed up. Ambient temperature was around 82F.
When I did my own testing before I found the OBC read 1.5 mpg higher than actual.
Yesterday drove from OC to LA and back with traffic a good part of the way and doing around 75 on the way back. Reset the meter when I left I got 48.5 mpg at the end. A/C on with tires @ 40 psi all around
My all time highest at 65.1 mpg!!! Of note is that I was going around 48 mph for about 10 miles after I gassed up going on relatively flat two lanes highway in the middle of nowhere.
I just could not keep it at 48 mph.....it is just too slow and boring. As I increased my speed to beyond 65 mph.......the mpg dropped very fast and significantly to around 44 mpg. As I increased my speed even higher, the mpg dropped to around 37 mpg!!!

yeah it's fun to try and see per trip MPGs... but the true test is averaged out over the whole tank of gas =) it will usually go down. my current tank is at 39.3 mpg.
Just press the little black stick next to the TRIP A (see my picture posted above) once to toggle between TRIP A, TRIP B, and odo. ....it will cycle back to TRIP A again..... If you press and hold down it will reset whatever it was displaying TRIP A or TRIP B to 000. But will not reset odo to 000000....LOL
