Hey all, I'm really close to pulling the trigger on a new 2017 CT200h but I know production has stopped already. Is it dumb to buy one now right when production has stopped and they're trying to get rid of them? Is it better to wait and see if a the replacement is any good? I am NOT looking for a hybrid CUV - nothing like a Toyota HRV or similar. I really like the body style of small hatch of the CT200h.

Right now, they're offering me $6.5k off MSRP if I lease the car. The dealer said they can only give me the $6.5k if I lease it, but if I really want, I can just lease it for 1 month and pay it off in cash or get a car loan outside of Lexus. Are they tricking me? I never heard of this before but I've also never leased a car before.

From just googling, it looks like the CT200h is plenty reliable - as good as Prius if not better - I've read quite a few remarks that the CT200h is actually the most reliable car in the Lexus line up currently. Any thoughts on that (agree / disagree)?

Also your favorite must-do mods that you recommend for your CT200h? I can't seem to find any LED ones packaged so I'll probably swap out the headlights for a HID Kit or LED kit - the projectors look pretty good on the CT200h halogens, will I have any excessive glare with a drop in kit? Is it tough to get fog lights in aftermarket (also can't find one packaged)?

The CT has been given many accolades for reliability. It is running the 3rd generation Prius powertrain.

Usually the best time to buy a car is when the model is on its way out, where incentives are at their highest. Check out truecar.com and see what people are paying for one these days.

The reason you can't find an LED one is because the dealers consider that option, along with things like radar cruise control, to be something few people will pay for. So they just don't order cars with those options. It's much cheaper to get aftermarkets bulbs but the quality will rarely be as good. A lot of people on the forums have them, so you should have a lot of support here.

There are a lot of things at play.

Cost of the car itself.

Lease deal is $5000 cash off, consider this. It's cheaper to lease a ct200h vs a comparable Prius 2 $291 vs $325 (carsdirect.com)

But $6500 off the car is not much considering it's end of model year. $5000 incentive and 1500 off msrp equals the $6500. I'd go in at the end of the month during this long weekend memorial day and shop.

If you get it at $8000 off then it's a great deal, lease it. Buy it out at the end if you like it. That simple, why do you need to buy it out right away?

Bought several cars on that weekend in the last few years for my best deals.

I only see $4000 off for lease, and deal end this month May 2017
plus $1000 off for recent college graduate, and $1000 military.
I only qualify for $4000 off on lease, then I will buy at 49% residual value.

Good or Bad?

If you plan on buying it after lease,why not just buy it now?
Unless discounting isn't as big.

Because I cannot get the $4000 off if I buy, Lexus only offer to lease.
I got the price down to $1000 under invoice then minus $4000
total $5000 under invoice.
