I took my car in for a oil change at 38k. The dealer said I'll probably need new front brakes on my next oil change. I haven't got a chance to look at the pads yet but wondering how long your brakes have lasted? It seems odd that I'd need new brakes already at 43k.

It all depends on your driving style. If you like to brake hard a lot, you're using your friction brakes far more than regen brakes. There are people who have to replace them annually just because of how they drive. If not, there may be another issue there. Ask them (or maybe go to another shop) to give you how many millimeters are left on the pads and what the normal brand new measurement is so you can see for yourself.

That doesn't seem right to me. I drive fairly aggressive and my brake pads were are over 50% at about 170,000 km. I changed my front brakes to upgrade to a BBK however there was still a lot of life left in them. I think you either have a sleazy dealer or you have a problem with your brakes like a seized caliper or something. If that is the case I would try and get the warranty to cover it because of your low millage...
But first, get a second opinion and don't tell them what the other guy said until they tell you what they think so there is no bias.
