Hi Guys,

Besides the door clunk. Have another weird issue with my 2012 CT. Over the summer started to notice that my car had a slight burnt or melted smell. While cleaning my car this weekend, noticed a black, sticky, soft material that had oozed out from the dash. I know it wasn't a crayon or food so wondering what the heck it can be. I live in Central Texas and its pretty hot, maybe melted adhesive? Pics attached.

Is that in the passenger footwell area?

Have you taken the glove box out to take a look? They usually aren't difficult to remove as commonly the cabin air filter is behind them.

Did you buy it used? Maybe the previous owner installed some sort of sound deadening. Or maybe the stock sound deadening can't take the heat.

Did you ever find out the cause or resolve the issue? I just noticed this happening in my 2013 model.

Those pictures are potato quality.. potato in 2001. why does it look like the footwell plastics are cracked or broken. can't really see what i'm looking at. either way it sounds weird!

I was quite surprised when I found this black stuff when I opened a cover to access the heater blower. I guess it’s there to make a tight seal for the plastic cover so it doesn’t rattle. I can’t find a better explanation why else would they put it there...

I had this on my 2011. Found black good like that on my floor mat on the passenger side.
