Default Considering moving to CT from LS430

Hello,
Over the weekend my Lexus LS430 was rear ended. It will be at the local lexus dealer for a few weeks and I was given a CT as a loaner car through hertz. I really like the car! I am especially liking the excellent gas mileage compared to the big v8 in the LS430. I am thinking about trading my LS430 in and picking up one of these used with low miles.

I dont know much about the CT model all...
Are there any issues you guys are having with these cars I should know about?
How many years before the battery or whatever charge system in it is due to go bad?

I think I am driving a base model. It has no nav, memory seats, just an ok stereo, etc.

Thanks for your help

I just bought a 11 premium with Navi, leather, memory seats better radio. I really like it, I love the front seats , they feel better to me than my RXh and about he same as my HS . It is a little small but it's just my wife and I and a child very now and then . It kind of fun to drive. I wouldn't worry about the batteries, I heard that the fail rate since 2000 is only like 3%. My Prius had 106k and no issues at all . Gen 3. If you look around you can get a CT loaded . I wanted Navi but you don't want it I've seen them for 21/23 with under 30k miles. Seems like the 11/12 are about the same price. There is a premium model in Missouri 2012 with 9k miles for 28 I paid 25 from Lexus with 28k
Best of luck . I took my time(2/3weeks) and worked on different deals but if you have cash you are set in a good way.

Thank you for your reply. I am assuming that the one I have is base because it doesn't even have a power passenger seat. The car seems to ride much stiffer to me. Do you find the same? Also, how is the electric system working in these cars? Can you choose to ride just on battery?

Price range on used ones seem to range in the $20's which seems like a good deal for one of these. I would be hoping to find one fully loaded with navigation.

Its a little firm , but not bad . If I get road that is a little rough I can feel it but not as bad as my Prius. I feel that the HS ( tech Package) rides better and has tons more room but gets around 35 Highway and total just about every time I drive it . The HS seems more ES like and the CT more IS like just smaller versions . I have a 300h now for a few days while I get new tires and a few things worked on, and its getting 33.4 and that's after 120 miles of combo driving . this is the 3rd time I had one and once for week and all had poor MPG. I'm getting around mid to low 40s on the CT . If it was me and it was , I wouldn't spend the money for a base model .if I want a Lexus I want a loaded nice one . Don't see the point of a no Navi, leather better radio. Go by a used 4-5 Gen 3 Prius and load it up and get 50mpg easy . I loved the solar roof on my Prius it worked great on the 100 degree days and the 80 degree days . you can only go about 1 mile on the battery and it hard ..at least for me to go long and not get passed by a person on a bike or my daughter running XC . I do use it at time in morning traffic when its a stand still .but that being said it runs like that anyway so no need for the button

let use know ,,any other questions just ask

Thank you for your input. I am going to have it for several more weeks while my car gets fixed. I noticed there is a B option when shifting from park to R - N- D. Is that the battery option?

Its just a way to help charge the battery it uses the engine to charge the battery. I never use it other than to see how it effects things.

When in doubt, there's always the option of reading the owner's manual available online at Lexus Drivers. There isn't much need for the "B" position if the environment in which you drive is flat like Kansas. The "B" position allows for engine braking similar to vehicles with transmissions that have actual gears that can be chosen to allow for controlled deceleration via engine braking.

Please go to pages 185 and 190 of the following .pdf excerpt from the CT200h owner's manual.

There was a similar thread posted a little while ago that you might find useful also:

Thank you for the help guys...Since it is a rental, it didn't have the owners manual in the glove box so I appreciate the link to the online manuals.
Just got word my LS430 is going to take 3 more weeks to repair so looks like I will be enjoying this car for a little while. Perfect because I get to really try one out before deciding to buy.
