Default Battery lost charge

I've had my CT for about a month and just took it on a long drive. Drove on I95 and Rt 1 non-stop for about an hour, then went into a slow-drive birding area. Since I was going to be going only about 15 mph, I put the car into EV mode,or thought I would. The battery had no charge, so I was driving through the area almost entirely in gas mode. My previous hybrid did not lose battery charge on this short trip, so I didn't expect it. Can someone explain to me why the CT would have such a short charge on the battery, or what I did wrong? Thanks,

Often , I get an Unavailable prompt. I leave mine in Eco mode and the engine will start only when the system needs it. Other than that, it will run on the battery until you command otherwise.

Oh! depends how fast you were driving on the I95? it is possible to near deplete the battery charge depending on the roads ( up hill + / - ) If the battery remains depleted then you have issue. Give it another run today and see how it works.

good luck

Going up hill and/or driving fast uses both engine AND electric motor.

Just drove to lake arrowhead yesterday and when I get to the top my battery is depleted.

I did a little test, when my battery was almost completely full (1 click below max battery shown)

on a relatively flat road, going completely in EV in traffic < 5mph rolling, A/C on 2 clicks, it will only last 5 minutes before it's completely drained and gas engine kicked in

our battery is really small

You have to be very very gentle on the throttle on a flat or downhill road driving under 20 mph. Oh and your engine has to be warm and you are not using much AC or windshield defroster. And if you could do all of the above, you can only go about 1 mile in EV mode for the CT 200H.
