Smile I am in the process of trading my 2013 for a 2014

I wanted the radar cruise control last year and the tilt down mirrors and the seat memory package
and encountered a sales person who was unhelpful, and has since retired. He would just say

oh we've never sold any with that, no you can't get that now, they won't make it, etc.

I went back this year and found a very nice sales person who understands me and I am getting
a white CT200h F-sport with leather, seat memory, tilt down reverse mirrors, radar cruise control
and collision detection avoidance system.
This is at Larry H. Miller Lexus of Salt lake city utah.

I have a question, I showed them the video that came out on youtube after the CT200h's 2014
reveal in Gauanzhou china auto show, and they show a guy driving down an imaginary road
with distance markers he blasts through, 200 km, 400 km, 600km, 800km, 1000km, then it says
1000km per tank.

I have lurked in this forum for over a year, and am wondering how they get a CT200h to go 1000
km on a tank of gas, because I thought it has an 11.9 gallon tank, and some fuel is reserved when
the tank is empty to cool the fuel pump. Are they saying drive it until it is bone dry and you can
eek out 1000 Km. The math doesn't seem to work out. When I fill my 2013 CT, without over
filling at all, I take the gas hose nozzle out when it clicks off, I have a range of about 491 miles
my CT200h 2013 model claims.

Any idea from 2014 knowledgable people what is going on here? How they have this driver
blasting through 1000 KM on a tank of gas?

Just wondering. I give up my ultrasonic blue mica 2013 F-sport with Nav for a 2014 ultra white
hopefully by the end of the end of the month. I will miss the blue color certainly.

maybe different gas in china?
i doubt they care about the environment, maybe they don't need to put as much ethanol in it or something

also
maybe outright lies are allowed in chinese commercials

innorth america im sure its possible to get over 1000km if you follow very closely behind a truck for the entire trip

I am not sure different gas will make THAT much of a difference. I think you are right. Maybe in China, you don't really have to be reasonably honest about your MPG. If ONE person could get it to 1000 KM, they could advertise it?

Or.. maybe they increased the fuel tank size for 2014 CT? I always thought it would be awesome if the tank has 2 extra gallons... I think most small cars (non hybrid) has 13 or 14 gallons tank.

Take any advertising claims about fuel economy with a large grain of salt. The Government of Canada fuel rating for the CT200h is 4.5 L/100km (52 mpg [US]) City and 4.8 L/100km (49 mpg [US]) Hwy. No one gets close to those numbers outside the testing lab. However, based on those ratings, if you ran the 45 liter tank dry, you could go 1000 km in the city and 938 km on the highway.

I'd say chinese gas didn't have ethanol in it.

Default thanks

Thanks to all for your answers.

I too hope or wish they would make the fuel tank just a bit bigger, so we could
drive farther, but maybe there isn't any room. Wish there was though.

I really don't mean to sound rude but what was the price point on this? If you feel uncomfortable answering don't worry.

Default price point

It is not rude to ask.

Well I give them $3000 in cash as a down payment, and they pay off my 2013, for around
$33,000 USD and they will resell it of course.

My 2013 was F-sport, with navigation, ultrasonic blue mica color, power passenger seat.
My payoff was high because I bought almost all the stuff they sold after the car, insurances,
warranty etc., My state farm insurance has only $250 deductible on collision and $0 deductible for
comprehensive , because I don't like having to pay for surprises. All the warranty stuff from
lexus probably added oh I don't know, a thousand and a half to 2K maybe? I bought the gap
insurance from state farm, actually it was included in the loan, and lexus refunded me their
gap insurance of $600 cash, I got an 8 year platinum warranty for everything, and some other stuff.

Don't tell me if I got scammed please. I like having the peace of mind of being taken care
of, which is why this is my third lexus, and I have a mental condition, Asperger's syndrome
autism and I don't do negotiations well with people at all when I can't look them in the face, so
may have paid more than I needed to, but they treat me well, and I like this dealer, they do some
things for free when I bring the car in. Maybe I'm a gravy train to them, but I don't want to know.
When I did the test drive, they let me have the car overnight, and drive it wherever I wanted, so
I took it up into the mountains to see what it would do on steep inclines, it seemed to do fine,
I was passing people on I-80 in other cars going slower than I was. I probably put 100 miles on
it during the test drive before I took it back to them. I suppose they knew they had a fish on their
hook already though, I can't read people at all, I'm one of those who has pictures of people's
faces with emotions labeled on them so I can tell what people are thinking, because by myself
I can't tell, so I'm not your typical car bargainer. I could tell the difference the next day when I
went to my state farm agent and they reduced the interest rate by 2 points and saved some
dollars per month though.

Wow, you will like your loaded 2014. Lexus has done some work to reduce the NVH (noise/vibration/harshness) for the 2014 model, updated the front interior panel, and the exterior updates mentioned above. The sound system is pretty nice too.

1000km - different mpg testing standards, nothing else.... 2014 should be more efficient - in europe they lowered the official consumption numbers, but not by a lot.
