Unhappy Unusual wear on steering wheel

A couple months back at around the 2 year anniversary mark of ownership, I noticed unusual cracking of the leather on the steering wheel. It's getting worse over time and I'm hardly touching that area as I drive in the 10-2 position mostly. There are two obvious spots with another 4 areas starting off at the top section of the steering wheel. What's even stranger is it's not the typical worn off leather you see on older cars but instead crack lines about a half inch each in length. My car has only 29K km. See pic. Anyone notice this on theirs? I've sent this to Lexus and waiting on warranty response.

funny you post this...I too have the issue, however my CT is a 2012 and I bought it used last month. The cracking, wrinkles, whatever is more at 12 o'clock but looks the same.

Interesting you have the issue too. I sent this pic to my dealer and immediately got a call from the service manager assuring me he will take care of it and order parts all under warranty. Once in, they'll call me back to make an appointment for the repair. Don't know what the parts are since he left me a voicemail but impressed yet again by Lexus. Will post once I know more. In the interim, Billisme you should inquire as well as this is definitely a defect.

Agreed it's weird. I've owned several cars and 4 other Lexus without ever this issue. No products used at all. I like the matte look in my interior including the dash. I'm also the only driver and I'm a stickler for clean hands. I'm just glad Lexus acknowledges the problem as a defect and is taking action.

I use this:
http://www.meguiars.com/en/automotiv...tectant-16-oz/

however that wrinkle has been there since I bought my car; I bought mine used so I don't know what the previous owner used if anything. My "local" Lexus dealer is about an hour away. My first experience with hte dealership was very bad. I was on their lot for 45 minutes looking at the used CT's they had and not one person came out to say hi or anything. The CT's are parked right in front of the sales floor. I was pulling out the floor in the hatch to look at the battery and everything and not one person stopped to say if I needed help. Needless to say that dealership is not getting my business.

I went in today for the appointment. Lexus replaced my old steering wheel and I got a BRAND NEW one. Lexus never disappoints. No questions asked.

Nice! I should call my local Lexus dealer and see what they can do for me.
