I'm not sure if this has been posted before but I just found it.

Here is a cool link where over 100 CT owners reported fuel used vs. odometer miles for actual MPG, not the one that the CT computer displays. Combined model yr 2011 and 2012 fill ups tracked currently show over 1,500 fillups and 500,000 miles. .

My CT exaggerates MPG by about 5% too high.

I really should start using fuelly again.. Just been lazy
But my indicator shows me at 4.4 - 4.6 L/100km which is really about 4.9L/100km or less

I am thrilled with my amazing fuel economy, it is better than most, but then again I really pay attention to it while driving

What I have found out is that speed, due to drag, is a big factor with the MPG for the CT.

Our current CT computer is displaying 48 MPG since last fillup 150 miles ago. This is at 63 mph speedometer indication 80% of the time. Real world calculation at fillup, I expect this will be 46 MPG.

At 70 MPH it drops to 43 displayed in computer or actual of 41 MPG.

If I drove 50-55 mph I could see real MPG calculations of probably close to 50 mpg.

The difference in headwind vs tailwind is also significant. We drove a trip with a direct 6 kt tailwind component and then turned around and came back with a 6 kt headwind component. At 70 mph ct displayed mpg changed about 4 Mpg. The significance is one way the car experienced an "airspeed" of 63 mph and the other way an "airspeed" of 77 mph. (6 kt =~7 mph). Can you tell that my other hobby is flying?

^ with those figures... Are you sure you have a CT and not a Prius?

FLYCT - isn't that the case for MOST cars? Our cars actually have a LOW coefficient of drag, so it's less impacted by variables such as airspeed.

Yes it's the same for MOST if not all cars. I think it is more noticeable in cars like the CT because a 7 mph tailwind vs a 7 mpg headwind causes an increase of maybe 4-5 mpg. The same headwind/tailwind combo in my gas hog Expedition only equates to a 1.5 MPG improvement in gas mileage, "up to" 16 mpg.

Our CT is actually pretty close to the same efficiency that our 2005 Prius was but not as good as a 2012 Prius. If you look at the Fuelly site the newer 2012 Prius gets much better fuel economy that the 2005 Prius.

Come to think of it, my Big Honda bike only got 45 mpg.

Hey, we love the CT's comfort compared to the Prius.

FLYCT.......it works out to a little over 10% difference for both your CT and the Expedition.

Mine is about the same my first tank 43.33mpg. Since then its increased 1-2mpg.

YES , wind affects EVERY car as far as gas mileage goes. Not sure its 4-5mpg , but I'm sure 2-3 mpg is possible. Also weight of the car if you often carry passengers that affects it.
Always keep the tank filled hurts it. Air pressure in the tires certainly plays into it. Tire wear does too. Where you live probably affects it the most. If you live in Florida its better than Connecticut.

Also air temp also has an affect. Optimal gas mileage is a chore I am not patient enough to drag every last drop out of her. I am more than happy with my little Lex.

I went and test drove the new FR-S last week and it felt cheap after my CT. I was floored by how much more solid the CT felt.
