Default Limited Service Campaign (LSC) CLB

Certain 2011 and 2012 Model Year CT 200h Vehicles
Exhaust Gas Control Actuator Replacement

Lexus is initiating a Limited Service Campaign (LSC) CLB to replace the Exhaust Gas Control Actuator on certain 2011 and 2012 model year CT 200h vehicles.

On certain 2011 and 2012 model year CT 200h model year vehicles, there is a possibility that the exhaust gas control actuator may develop a coolant leak. If a coolant leak occurs, the Water Temp Indicator Lamp and Check Engine Lamp will illuminate.

If the above warning lamps illuminate, the driver should pull over, and contact an authorized Lexus dealer for diagnosis and repair. Continued operation of the vehicle with insufficient levels of coolant will cause the engine to overheat.

There are approximately 18,000 Lexus CT200h (Certain 2011 and 2012 Model Year) Vehicles covered by this Limited Service Campaign in the U.S.

2011 CT200h vin range: 2000113 - 2046991
2012 CT200h vin range: 2021531 - 2079902

Please note that not all vehicles in the VIN range are covered by this LSC.

Lexus will begin sending the Limited Service Campaign notification in late April, 2012, shortly after the dealer notification, via first class mail.

This Limited Service Campaign will be available at no charge to vehicle owners until May 31, 2015. All terms of the affected vehicle’s Lexus New Vehicle Limited Warranty will remain intact regardless of whether or not the customer takes advantage of the Limited Service Campaign.

Default Recall

Sorry just noticed this :
https://www.clublexus.com/forums/ct-...ml#post7185847

Has anyone here had the recall done yet. I am having my car done this Tuesday 2-1/2 hours plus a first service. So 3+ hours.....
Just wondering if you all have gotten your recall notices and thoughts on it. Some type of recirc valve....

Yes, I got an email from my dealership:

This service campaign is for the Exhaust Gas Control Actuator Replacement (CLB), and will be covered by Lexus at no cost to you. As well as the recall service, Lexus of Northborough will be topping off your gas tank and washing the exterior and vacuuming the interior of the vehicle.

This service will take 4-5 hours to complete. We will provide you with a complimentary loaner vehicle to drive while the work is being performed.

My dealer and others said 2-1/2 hours. I heard the video from the German site of a Prius knocking and squealing like a youth band.

Some type of exhaust recirculation valve some are defective I'm guessing. Oh well , my dealer is located near loads of stores restaurants and things to do killing a few hours not an issue. Especially if they give me a 2013 GS for a loaner.....

Does that video even have anything to do with the recall? I wouldn't think so, but I don't know German and I could be wrong!

YES, from what I gather it is......after the thing completely fails. Not good. They leak coolant so maybe he thought his warning light wasn't THAT important. But , yes.

"Here's a link to a video with the abnormal sound the defect can cause:

Saugrohrproblem - da rappelts in der Kiste - Lexus Owners Club Europe

The Prius also gets a recall here's an explanation of what the problem is all about:

Owners will be contacted to replace weak actuators in the exhaust system that act as engine control mechanisms and recapture heat for the hybrid system.
Because of their lack of integrity, the actuators can give out, allowing coolant to leak.
That, in turn, will throw a “check engine” light on the dashboard and put the engine into safe mode, cutting the car’s power."

Took my CT in for the 5K mile service and got a loaner for what I thought would be an hour or so but it ended up being half a day and when I picked it up they informed me about the recall and had already corrected it for me. I appreciated the fact that I didn't have to make a second appointment and really appreciated the fact that they did not wash my car as requested. However, filling my car with gas was unexpected.....wish it had been closer to empty.

One other side note.....my loaner while they had my CT was another CT but it was a regular CT premium. Personally I thought there was quite a difference in the way my SE F Sport handles compare to the regular CT. Driving over familiar daily routes I could tell a definite difference in handling characteristics.....no regrets here about ponying up for the upgraded suspension, lowering springs, and sway bar.

No fill up at my dealer.
Repair took less than 2 hours.

Interesting.. normally for any recall they top your tank off. I had the coolant one earlier and they filled mine up and said they do that for all/any recall.

They should have topped off your gas tank. It is part of the guidelines that Lexus puts out saying that vehicles coming in for any recalls/campaigns WILL be filled with gas.
