How long a Lexus Ct last? Planning to buy one
 

I plan to buy a 2012 lexus ct had about 195k miles. Is it gonna die soon? And what to check when buying one?
is $8k a lot for this car?
or should i look at lexus hs with 100k miles and about the same price?

The million dollar question ;). if you have looked around the forum, you might have come across Raidin's post where he is already over 644k miles. but, BUT he cares for his car and keeps it maintained. We had our first issue starting at 203k (also a 2012) but at the time wasn't aware of the oil issue. For the next 100k i was on top of the oil levels and changed it religiously at 5k miles. We ended up trading it in simply to get more space for the family. When initially discussing a different car, i said if we decide to go with the same size vehicle, it would be a CT over a prius (still just like the fit and feel of the CT) but wouldn't get anything older than 2016 when the oil issues seems to have been corrected (started correcting it in 14, but safe at 16). So if you could find and swing for a bit more $$, that's the route i would go. If 2012 is what is available for the price, the one question I'd ask is when did they last clean the EGR? If they have a confused look or say never, it would give me some reservations. Also, i think the EGR gets worse with the more ICE usage. Since I commute, 90% of my miles were ICE. If these are mainly city miles, then you might be better off since the traction side would have been used more.

Just like any car buying, look at everything you can. If you have a way to jack it up/lift it, get a good look at everything under the car. Look for oil leaks around the valve cover or really anywhere on the engine block (though if someone was sloppy with their pouring, that makes it tough). If you have an ODB-II bluetooth/wifi scanner, check the computer for any codes, but also use Dr. Prius to view the battery info.

The CT was prolly the first car i ever really enjoyed driving. It is a great car overall, just keep an eye on the oil levels.

My CT is 7 years old this summer @ 660k miles. Only two major issues: head gasket blew (known issue at very high mileage), EGR issue (known issue at very high mileage: replaced manifold with a revised one from Lexus per TSB, and some EGR cleaning, $600).

I still see them everywhere and they are typically in nice shape and typically have a bunch of miles. I don't think I'd shy away from a maintained one.

i just see a 2012 model with 141k miles for $10k.

The CT's are great cars for commuting as it gets good mpg's and will go on for a very long time as long as it's maintained. I have a 2011 CT and have over 310K miles and I plan on keeping it for a very long time.

I would negotiate the price to around $7K -$8K.

I'm looking at a 2014 Ct200H with 65k miles on it and wondering how much life the battery has left in it. I'm oblivious when it comes to hybrids.
