Unveiling the Brixton CM7

When the Brixton team began establishing our mesh wheel lineup, one critical element lingered in the room. Everyone has a mesh wheel, be it 10, 12, 14 or 18 spoke some version of it had been created. Our team wasn't about to join the rest and turn out a standard classic mesh wheel, instead we posed the challenge to get creative. If there would be a flagship mesh wheel to our lineup, it had better be an industry first.






As deadlines approached for final engineering and testing verification, we had another look at the design and decided to remove some distortion in the teardrop and bump up the twist deformation. When we mean 'remove some distortion', we played between millimeters in varience between each design change. Our design team produced upwards of 8 variations of the first. Each one was off by 1 Degree of twist, sometimes 0.5 and the geometries were altered by a 1 mm change in teardrop radius or spoke thickness. Every design was reviewed until the decision was made, finally! The perfect ratio of spoke thickness, twist angle and teardrop dimensions was achieved. The design was ready for Finite Element Verifcation (FEA) and testing.

The end goal was to create an ultimate lightweight forged design that both performed and had a look that was second to none on the streets. At the end of it all, our 20x11" Monoforged prototype weighed under 24 lbs and went above and beyond anything our team could have anticipated.
