That might be your opinion, but side by side with a Caddy CTS and a BMW 330Ic they look identical.

And I was right about the color flicker, it is because of the auto leveling system (I talked with a BMW Tech). My car has a very slight flicker when driving over bumps, other than that its pretty steddy.

I Am having a problem (starting today) with my HID kit. There is another post from a Autolamp customer who is having the same problem.

My TRAC light comes on when I turn my HIDs on, it stays on untill I turn the car off then on again. I have NO IDEA what this can be from, I just had the Alternator replaced (by Lexus of Jax) about 3 months ago.

Weird..

Quick Update of 6000K setup

Ok, my INITIAL assessment is that these things are very purple when driving next to non-HID cars...it's a light purple...like lavender...brightness is not at good as the 4100K...it is noticable but it's still VERY GOOD lighting. Still MUCH brighter than Halogen. Dunno, I think it'll take a little getting used...we'll see how it goes in the long run...(at least a month or two)

(btw: 6000K is 20% dimmer than 4100K...so anything higher is just dimmer...)

TealLexusSc400 - You do NOT have the AutoLamps kit, correct? (I just want others to understand). Personally, I don't know if this is an issue with the HID system (regardless of manufacturer). Other than you and the other person (I can't remember who it was), I have NEVER heard of this problem with aftermarket HID installs...but bad bulbs and bad ballasts (when the lights don't go on...but those were crappy brands...)

Also, how do you know how good your eyes are at telling color? Seriously, believe it or not, most people have VERY BAD color recognition. Judging from the photos you've upload, the color looks very Teal (hehehe...)...look at that photo you upload with the lights against the wall...are you saying that the OEM BMW/Caddy lights look that that? I don't think so...OEM HID's don't look like that. They are very white. I would love to see some side by side photos of your car with an OEM HID car (against a white wall)...

As for the color flicker, dunno about that...I've had my SC driven over a speed bump (by someone else obviously) and I never noticed color flicker. Just brightness changes (since you're going from center focus to peripherial focus) Also, no one else who has HID's in the SC's projectors have never stated that they have color flicker...

The camera that I used to take the picture did not show what people actually see. I swear, it look JUST LIKE the new CTS with the HID kit. I'll take pics when I can.

One question, are Phillips ballasts as good as the Hella's?

HOUTXGS300 - That kit looks like it has Philips ballasts...as for the bulbs...dunno, I know someone makes a 5300K (Osram?)...but with those kind of kits, it's always questionable where they source the bulbs from. A lot of times, you get some low quality Korean bulbs that will die a lot quicker than the higher quality systems.

I would stick with KNOWN kits like the AutoLamp's kit...6000K is $550 shipped...

They don't happen to have something in between 4100 and 6000 kit? 4100 looks a little yellowish on my friend's acura.

Not from Phillips. I think OSRAM makes a 5300K setup...

I've been running 6000K for a about a week and it's not bad...definitely notice the diff. between 4100K and 6000K in terms of brightness...it's more noticable on the ground than on cars in front of me...the light directly in front of the car isn't as visible (I think the fact that the light is more light purple/white which colorwise, blends into the color of asphalt better than yellow/white) but when it's on the back of a car or whatever is in the front the car, it is bright.

Just installed my kit today...It isn't night time yet but in the garage, it sure looks mighty bright. Can't wait until it gets dark to try them out. Might go to the back roads in Irvine to check them out. It took me a little over an hour to install the kit including dressing all the wires. Thanks to Manaray for the recommendation.

MC, I'd love to see some pictures of your light output on the GS's reflector setup...some pictures of the lights against the wall, against the ground, etc...

Manaray,

Have you had a problem with Ballast sliding around. It seems that with the heat, the ballast tend to come loose and slide around. I put one the side of the airbox and the other on top of...not sure what it is, but it looks like another air box on the drivers side in the engine. I think I am going to find another way to secure them down instead of using the doublesided tape. Maybe tire wraps. Any suggestions?
