Default SoCal Lexus Dealerships and Mods

How friendly or unfriendly are dealerships when it comes to mods?

Mitsubishi dealers have been friendly in the past with my car but I’ve never dealt with Lexus with mods. I’m just planning a new down pipe and don’t want to void warranties. I know bolt ons don’t void warranties but I have no experience with Lexus and aftermarket parts.

depends on the dealership and the service advisor. Westminster and Cerritos have both been great about it with me. Santa Monica and Longo not so much.

helps to get to know your advisor as well and always use the same guy if possible, the better he knows you the less likely he is to have an issue with mods.

B-Line Intake and Exhaust, and I've modified some electrical items as well, hard wired dash cam, heads up display, wireless charging pad for my phone. minor stuff overall, but alterations none-the-less. the attitude at Cerritos and Westminster has always been "they don't interfere with the issue"

but Longo flat out refused to work on my car unless I removed the HUD, Dashcam, and intake. and told me no warranty coverage on the car because of the exhaust, they wouldn't even honor my paid maintenance contract, I was there for my 15K oil change because it was close to my office. I ended up just going to Cerritos which is closer to my home though the opposite direction of my office.

A dash cam, really? I have never heard of that being an issue.

because it was hard wired into the fuse panel, not plugged into the lighter, and having my Navdy HUD plugged into the ODBII had them throwing a fit, it's a read only device but they went nuts over it "interfering" with the programming of the vehicle. ignorance at its finest.

as everyone said, it really depends on the SA and the mods, and what you want done. technically a turbo is bolt-on , but will certainly void something!
oil changes no dealership should give you problems, but warranty work might be if your mods possibly voided it.

electrical hardwire is a void on the OE warranty (not dealership).
I know this as I had a friend try to claim lemon law on a brand new vehicle he bought from the dealership that gave lots of electrical problems.
when he lawyered up to fight the manufacturer (not dealership), they LOST since the dealership installed an aftermarket alarm system which voided the OE warranty in the first place, which was out of his control!
seems like an isolated incident but just be aware it's out there.
