Default Nooo Grapevine is closed!!!

Anyone else screwed cuz the Grapevine is closed? lol

Went up to Bakersfield this weekend with my gf to visit her sister and mom and can't get back to LA now!! Have to call off work now. It's pretty crazy right before you get to the Grapevine coming from Bakersfield there are people camping out in their cars off the exit right before and all the local hotels are packed.

I had to drive back to Bakersfield...hopefully it will open up again early tomorrow!!! gahhh lol

Yeah. Snow on the mountains. Drove to the grapevine and ending up sitting for 1.5 hours in bumper to bumper traffic before getting to the exit right before the grapevine to turn around and go back to Bakersfield.

14 is open, but they are recommending avoiding it at all costs because its so jam packed right now. News says its just better to stay at a hotel or if your a Bakersfield resident or traveling from there, to go back. Apparently it will take about 4-5 hours on the 14 to get back to LA. F*** that!!!

I'm gonna sleep this one over...just gonna stay in Bakersfield and avoid the traffic hell and dangerous conditions. Heard there's already been a couple bad accidents and there's a lot of highway patrol out tonight. I'd rather be safe than sorry

rained poured all day and there ALWAYS seem to be a few people who always think "hey rain! cool lets drive faster and cut in and out of traffic!" rain isnt a common thing here but in the past 5 years that i have lived here 4/5 times that its rained i've seen cars flipped over....

Yep. One of the main reasons why i'm avoiding the drive today.

There's always a few idiots who drive like there's no rain and end up hitting someone else. You'll always see stupid accidents that occur because of some person who was weaving in and out in the rain or thought its cool to drive 80+ in the heavy rain and cut across 3 lanes of traffic to make the exit.

It's unfortunate so many innocent people are injured during the rainy days here in CA because of stupid drivers.

It's a four-hour detour without traffic, but possible.

I've done it before.

Well the Grapevine reopened this morning so i guess im gonna try again. Gonna be a slow ride though, everyone stranded out here is making the trip this morning, and apparently conditions are still a little sketchy in some parts.

101. Pretty much any winter or spring rain screws that section of I-5. Especially like yesterday.
