Las Vegas to Valencia - best route?
Per NYE plans, I need to drive down from Las Vegas to Valencia. According to Google maps, it suggests I take the 15 from Vegas and merge onto 18 North, continue onto 138 West, merge onto 14 South and exit on Newhall Ave.; 268 miles in 4 hrs and 48 mins. Seems reasonable as it avoids all the LA-area traffic.
However I've never heard of those series of small highways (have no desire to drive at a 55 speed limit ), and need to get to Valencia by noon to meet up with people. Pretty much the most open, straightforward route is 15 from Vegas to 210 then 5, and exit McBean Parkway; 295 miles, 4 hrs and 57 mins, "6 hrs 50 mins in traffic".
So which route is the most efficient? Or is there another route you would suggest? I'll be leaving Las Vegas at around 7AM. Thanks for your input!

The 18 and 138 highway are pretty small. Not sure on the speed limit but it's probably going to be traffic free.
Honestly if you need to be there by noon, you have to give yourself a bit more room than that. I suggest maybe leaving even earlier, especially since it's New Years Eve.

I can't remember the highway numbers, but is one of those Pear Blossom Highway?
I just recently went to Las Vegas from Valencia and took that way, 14 to Pear Blossom Hwy and then it merges in Barstow I believe to the 15. It would definitely be the quickest route to Valencia. I got to Vegas in about 3 hrs, 15 min, with a radar detector of course. But like it was mentioned before, you'll probably want to leave yourself some extra time just in case NYE traffic...

Ironically i took that path after dropping the puppy off at the gf's parents house on the way to vegas. Its actually quicker than the 4 ish hours. Deff cuts out traffic, some of it is 2laner and you can pass slow moving vehicles too. If your going at day follow the signs that say "turn head lights on in day time". Helps when judging to pass cars!
