Default Does my front bumper need to be repainted?

Hey everyone,

I've been a lurker for a while but created an account just now to ask for opinions on whether my front bumper needs to be completely repainted or if the blemishes can just be buffed out. Basically I scraped the part next to the rim when I was backing out of my garage...and then I scraped the corner of the bumper when I was exiting a gate...oops

Here's a picture:

And if it does need to be repainted, about how much would that cost?

Thanks so much guys!

welcome to clublexus

very hard to say, whether there are some paint transfer or if the scratches are all the way down. it's possible that a lot of them could be buffed out, and maybe some touch up paint and extra buffing can get rid of most of them, rather than repainting the whole bumper which can be a good 200-300 bucks?

The marks close to the wheel well look too deep. The other scuff looks like it could be buffed. How do they feel? If it is still relatively smooth to the touch, it could require just a buff.

+1 for the touch-up paint and buff. It won't look perfect, but it's the most cost-effective choice. I doubt that a normal passerby would notice a difference anyway.

if you want to get it painted, i recommend Platinum VIP.
I think they charge $350 for paint and install. im getting my bumper repainted and TTE lip installed there.

try the touch up paint and buff like previous members have suggested first. it doesnt hurt to do it yourself to see if it can hide the mark. it doesnt appear to be all that deep, so maybe a good few rounds of buffing should take out most if not all. if that doesnt work, then of course repaint. it wont be cheap, and thats why try the buffing method first. best of luck!

Wow thanks for all the input guys!! I really appreciate it

The marks near the wheel are pretty deep, and I forgot to take a picture of the other side of the bumper where I bumped into a cabinet in the garage while I was parking...I realize I sound like a terrible driver but I swear I'm not that bad! haha

I tried to buff out the long scuff mark this weekend but it didn't work bummer

I guess I should take it into a shop and have them look at it

One last thing...will the entire bumper have to be repainted or will a body shop be able to just paint the parts that are messed up? And does blending the paint cost more money? Sorry I'm really clueless on this stuff!

Some deep scratches and some aren't, so maybe you should get 1 of them "bug tar removal" compound or buff/wax and try to clean as much poss, then you can see the actual deep permanent stcratches. You have to paint the entire front bumper if you decided to paint. So IMO, I would just leave it !!

GL !!

I think touch up paint will cover it and most people won't notice it from afar. You can buy them at lexus dealership about 12 bucks.

Thanks a bunch everyone!! I'm going to mull on this a little more before I decide whether or not to go ahead with repainting, but I really appreciate everyone's advice and input. You guys were super helpful!

Hugs!
