Tour the US Navy Frigate USS McClusky this Weekend!!!
Time to bust out the camera gear!!!
"For only the second time since the terrorist attacks of 9/11, the public is being allowed to tour a warship at the Seal Beach Naval Weapons Station. USS McClusky, a guided missile frigate that entered service during the height of the Cold War, will accept visitors from 10 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. on Saturday and from 10 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Sunday. Visitors are urged to arrive early for the tour, which is free. The public can enter the base through the Liberty Gate, which is on Seal Beach Boulevard, just south of where the street intersects with Pacific Coast Highway. An online photo essay explains the role and history of the McClusky, which was built at the old Todd Pacific Shipyard in San Pedro" http://www.ocregister.com/articles/e...9-pacific-seal |
Wow, this is awesome, thanks xknowonex:thumbup:
I'll definitely try to go to the one tomorrow! I've heard you can see the aircraft carrier in San Diego, is that true? |
Did anyone go?
I couldn't make it today:( |
I went! It was a pretty awesome tour. I arrived at 9AM, and there was a long line already. Lots of people came.
Too bad they took out the missile launchers. They also had a dude from Coast Guard come by, let us hold the weapons, take pictures, and told some awesome stories. I gotta say, their new Mark18 rifles are LIGHT!!! |
There's some pics on a few other sites of the event; any pic takers here??
|
We drove by yesterday and there were mobs of peeps there. Looked like a nice event
