And just let CarPlay read you the text messages, thats the whole point. Works incredibly well.
Eh, I'm not a person that likes to be read to. I like to see it and read it for myself because I read extremely fast. I wish CarPlay did that but I understand why.
Or they can wait till stopped or parked. What did these people do before cell phones? Seems most are just on there to chat, probably the same people looking at their phones who while walking walk right into you like it's your fault they didn't see you...
that's a pipe dream. but using Bluetooth should not be. my wife can pair her phone to the car, and she can barely tackle the garage door keypad.....

Same, that's my main issue with any dictation system. It's way too slow

Well, its illegal...so you'll just have to be read to.

Everyone has preferences.
Your preference is illegal. Everybody would prefer to just read the text message, but when driving it isn't safe. Having it read to you and responding by voice works well in the context of being something you can do safely while you're driving.
And I know you're going to say "Well I can do it safely" no, you can't lol

You say "Reply to Bill" it says "What would you like to say?" you say "That sounds great Bill, comma, I will reply more at legnth when I get out of the car". Sent.
So....you can't carry on a face to face conversation with someone? How's that any different?
Oh with some people it's an actual task instead of being enjoyable. I hate having to dial back and wait for people so none of my friends have that issue.

I agree with you that texting and driving is illegal, and may be dangerous in some circumstances. But, then, again, so is speeding, and so is failure to stop when turning right on red......and yet probably 90%+ of Car Chat, except for me, Jill, and a few others here and there, still make excuses for them.
But, to be clear, by "speeding", I don't mean just a couple of MPH above the posted limit. Most cops, and most speed cameras, won't bother you unless you are maybe 10 or more MPH over, to take into account a number of factors like downhill-gravity, built-in speedometer error, and oversize tires causing a lower speedometer reading.

All circumstances. This is coming from somebody who used to write emails while driving. Its crazy dangerous. I'm surprised to see you defending and whitewashing texting and driving.
Driving faster than an arbitrary speed limit is not inherently dangerous, the average speed of the road, conditions, traffic are all things that help determine at what speed it becomes dangerous. Focusing on a small screen and typing while driving is always dangerous.
Well, its illegal...so you'll just have to be read to.
Who said I do anything illegal? Don't talk to me like I'm a child or student or you're my boss.

All I said was that I don't like having stuff read to me.. that's it. I have said a million times how I pull over if I need to use the phone to text, etc. etc. Anything to take my eyes off the screen I pull over. So chill with the big brother crap please. Thanks dad.
