Mailbox thief in my neighborhood early this morning, still dark so camera footage is not that sharp
Car was really quiet once it slowed down (tire noise at speed pulling into cul du sac), no real engine noise so I think may be either EV or Hybrid.
4 door sedan, lights and wheels are pretty distinct
- full illuminated LED bar across back of car
- led brake light above light bar, maybe on a spoiler?
- license plate located at bottom with what looks like led illumination
- yellowish marker light right in front of front wheel
- reddish marker light behind rear wheel
- fog lights
i was almost thinking Hyundai Ioniq 6 but can’t seem to find the wheels, the brake light maybe looks a bit too narrow but can’t get a great view of it. But is it even available and and out? Didn’t think it was. Door handles are wrong as well now that I look at them.
It was at 6am on Sunday. Ours was collected Saturday so nothing was taken, but neighbor across the way not so lucky.
Now that I've got the car make and model and it's pretty unique I'll probably call the police tomorrow. Don't expect much, but maybe they'll put out an alert and if a patrol sees that specific model driving around early AM it'll trigger a memory.

You just gotta wonder wtf people are thinking and why they do what they do but it will drive you absolutely mad.
Someone stealing mail at 6am, in a nice neighborhood?
What is of value in the mail? Nobody (in general I ever know/knew) sends more than $50 cash in mail. What could possibly be in mailbox of value these days anyway? CCs not activated? Junk mail?
