You never know, people see cameras and signs warning of cameras, it just might dissuade someone enough to make them keep walking to the next house

Really? I mean not that I would know but how about identity info such as date of birth, full name, social security number, account numbers, bank statements, the list goes on

Maybe..Practically everything is on camera now.....but crime is so much more about opportunity now that it has ever been

No security system? Security systems prevent crime. Signs prevent crime.

Just get a good one, because as someone sorta in the know in the security industry..... the cheap kind hooked up to a phone line, all a burglar has to do is rip the panel off the wall right there.

Our house has a battery backup for 3 days and an unbreakable cellular line along with all the ADT cameras.

We also replaced Ring with a Google doorbell and like that more.

I have like 40 credit monitoring agencies. Like I said above, if anything legit hits my credit or identity is compromised I'm alerted by like 15 different services.

I get soooo much junk mail it's 95% garbage, but yes bank statements and such. Not like they could get any of the money out though.

Back OT, that is that Lincoln. I was behind one today and as pointed out the side marker lights in the rear are a dead giveaway.

Been doing this a lot in Nashville. A friend of mine had two checks stolen from his mailbox. Saw the individual but thought she was leaving something.
So, folks told to not leave outgoing checks in mailbox with flag up, take to post office. Then this: Theft Know one of the guys in this story as well.

Yeah I always take sensitive mail into the post office and leave inside. Although I do admit I put up the flag on my mailbox sometimes (with nothing in it) to see if I can get daytime video of any thieves. We don’t get it that often luckily, last time was a couple years ago. We’ve got 6 cameras outside, but mailbox is located in a difficult spot to get a decent camera angle for license plates.

You do what you can do, also have monitored alarm, guns, credit and dark web monitoring service alerts, security freeze on credit since we don’t have any needs to add new credit, etc. but somebody will still get ya eventually. Just have to be as diligent as you can and not make it easy.

Smart. We have had a rash of armed robberies here in the DC area where people were holding up mail carriers trying to get their hands on a public mailbox key so they can open up those big blue mailboxes...

Hope they were caught and rot in prison.

I doubt your average scumbag has any idea how serious a federal crime messing with mail is.

I don't know if they were caught. One poor mail carrier was held up 3 times! And refused to turn the key over each time...thats bravery there...

It seems crazy that in this day and age a key like that would be so important but it is.

Here’s a WP article about it

No, I understand the issue. It happens all the time in Chicago. It's really not being "brave", putting more value on a mailbox master key than one's life.
