Tesla officially included for the first time:Tesla is included in the industry VDS calculation this year for the first time, with a score of 242 PP100. However, because Tesla does not allow J.D. Power access to owner information in the states where that permission is required by law, Tesla vehicles remain ineligible for awards.”
So who is Tesla protecting? The owners or themselves?
Have Tesla supplied owner information to other 3rd parties? Or are they just selective?
Really funny conversation going on at MBWorld right now, where the crazy GLE Fanboys are saying its strange to be upset by a car breaking down. "I'm negative" because I want my car to always work lol
Some quotes:
Fair points. Seems to bother some and not others. I understand things happen and as long as I'm taken care of then it's all good. To me I don't sweat small things like a car breaking down. Doesn't mean much to me in the grand scheme of things. Of course others feel different and that's their prerogative.
Here's another break down that happened to me. My brand new AMG GTR which was less than a month old. Wouldn't start and left me stranded in the Aria Valet in Vegas on a busy Saturday night for hours. Fletcher Jones sent one of their top techs down after hours and he got the car started. They fixed the car the next day and filled it with gas. Amazing service and it showed me how much they cared. It's all about the after care like I said. Turns out it was a shorted wire. Here's the original detailed thread in case anyone wants to read it.l
Breaks down and they fix it. Just like anything else in life. Teeth, lawnmowers, garbage disposals, plumbing and so on. Life goes on. A car is a car and most people have a couple of them anyways.
"Most people have a couple of them anyways"...hilarious...
I assume you haven't messed with the Tesla infotainment much. Since the car is dependent on BT connectivity to your phone as the primary vehicle "key", there can be scores of connectivity issues I have experienced first hand. Furthermore, since the infotainment center also serves as the vehicle dashboard, quirks and stupid design decisions are further enhanced in everyday driving experiences. Tesla has gone a long way to resolving these things, but there are still lots of reports of them, especially for those who are new to EVs and Tesla's in general
I would pay more attention to long term power train dependability imho. That's what really will separate ice vs evs. All other things are just minor annoyances.

The dealer was proud to display this win when I was there yesterday. It was quite a nice margin by which Lexus took the number one spot.
Honestly, I think a lot of modern cars are great, and it really comes down to the owners and A) how they take care of the cars and B) what issues they even bother reporting. That said, the fact that Lexus continues to stay at the top or near the top speaks to... something.

it will help used car sales. but CLEARLY reliability isn't a hot button for even the majority of consumers, or brands many here like to rag on wouldn't sell anything.

C) How they use the car
D) How long they keep the car
And depending on the answers, these surveys can only mean so much or at least with new cars like Bit said. Take the GLE for instance, with *** load of issues and how low they rank, buyers don't seem to care. Some do but very insignificant seeing how popular they are on the road. It's good as a selling point but it's also sad because that is the only selling point for Lexus these days.

The V-8 under the hood of my car would be a selling point for me.
But point taken, I can acknowledge this car, along with many others from Lexus, is pretty dated in terms of performance and tech. But also, I do think Lexus makes cars that are easy to jump in and drive, especially for folks that aren't used to the hyper-modern cars from other brands, like the German luxury marques.
I really need to try out the new RX/NX and see how they are. It's kinda crazy how different even the not-so-new ES feels compared to my IS.
The RX is a great reliable and comfortable appliance. We loved 2 that we owned over the years.
Is it exciting no, but we didn't want an exciting car for this purpose. We also didn't want our family car to stand out. I think a V8 or any super high performance motor would detract from why we liked our RX. If the new I-4 remains as smooth and refined as the outgoing V-6, while getting better MPG, that would be great.

It is if you buy a car and keep them for a long time. You lease your cars...a bit different than buying cars and keeping them for the long haul.
If I leased a car...I would never ever buy a Toyota or a Lexus.

interesting but i don't lease all my vehicles. the first lease i did was the genesis. i lease my work suv now, but bought the lc500.
and contrary to what you say, MILLIONS of people buy supposedly 'unreliable' vehicles and keep them for a decade or more. witness old trucks, old jeeps, heck even old hyundais/kias... you know, those 'unreliable' brands.

That is right. Those unreliable cars often have huge discounts to move them up front. Take the big discount and pocket the difference and roll the dice on repairs.
I leased the most reliable vehicles for a long time and bought one from a supposedly not reliable brand because numbers were the same and I don’t have to worry about mileage penalty. It turned out it’s now ranked highest. Lol Just do whatever works best for you at the moment. We can never plan enough for the future.

Look at these discounts.
and yet 'unreliable' vehicles like hyundai/kia suv's/cuv's are selling OVER msrp.

I always plan for the future. When I left college many many years ago…I always thought of the future down the road…I’ve always been in avoidance of any interest payments…now it is an obsession in my later life
Happy you bought your non Lexus So many good choices out there.

I don’t get why anyone would lease a Toyota or Lexus. There are so many better choices to lease.
