Fleet photos, post yours!
So weird the LS and GS models have bushing issues. My IS F (and GS F for that matter) have had zero problems other than replacing the big squishy donut at the back of the front LCA first with a polyurethane, now with a solid bushing, to control toe out under braking and the subsequent inside edge tire wear common to these models. The IS F has close to 210k miles on it.
EDIT, killer fleet btw. I like them a lot

Here is the scary one......
I have had to go in here for the oil screen, you have to remove turbos for this but it's a job you can do at home really....
Not fully forged but good quality since these have proven to take 600+ HP no issues
Yeah.....just don't make eye contact and replace that PCV/separator block every 75k or so and you will be fine. If you don't then god help you since you will blow seals faster than you thought possible. Again can be done at home with little issues
Now here is the interesting part, the 4.0s (and most VW engines really) do no have valve covers. The cover is also the cam cap and there is a mechanical cylinder management system. Said system works very well with near no issues but this system and the intake flaps are always on my mind since it's a point of failure that would require upper timing chain removal....
Speaking of chains welcome to hell. This is the 4th gen chain system and to date we have not seen even a single issue with this unlike the hell that was the first gen 4.2 engine. Some guys have 200k on their engines with still no leaks or chain issues. You may also be shocked to hear it is not engine out for chains or even trans out for upper chains. Access is shockingly good.
Accessory drive.....again very rare for a problem, but if you don't have a lift god help you. If you do have one then just remove the center subframe support and you can get to the PS pump or AC without too much of and issue.
Variable oil pump, it doesn't however fail to low pressure mode like so many other engines do. It will fail to full psi feed so there isn't much risk vs something like a 3.6 pentastar or Honda engine
Technicals
Cooling system looks like hell but everything that needs to be addressed is all in the front left corner and can be accessed from below. This is unlike the valley plate issue on the LS460
Unfortunately this is electronic control, expensive if it fails but you always have FCP euro
This is known to leak, not too bad to fix yourself and generally only happens once
Here is the 4.0, I have more fear of this engine but in terms of working on it the access is actually better than the 1UR engine and issues appear to less frequent. You also get massively massively more power and 30 mpg.
Thank you for sharing your knowledge and hard work
I doing a moment of silence right now.
Said to see it go, she was a beauty.
When it's time to retire my Jeep I intend to properly send him off.
