when a car gets a facelift it's often hit or miss for me, but i think this actually is a nice subtle improvement
the interior is unchanged though, and the current interior is a disappointment in several ways for me... namely the lack of climate control buttons and the trackpad that controls MBUX really is trash... for one thing it doesn't use the heat from your fingers like an iphone or something, so if something is plugged into the usb port the cable itself can brush over the trackpad and accidentally cause an input
also there's somewhat of a cheapness feeling to everything, and the buttons themselves have a bit of play in them to an amount gordon murray definitely wouldn't approve of
There are some nice improvements inside. Big one is infotainment, you have (mostly) full screen carplay now and the processor is much faster. Materials, the GLE (and GLS) have hard plastic lower doors which I find distasteful in that class, but optioned with the stitched dash I find everything else to be good quality. Nich solid, clicky buttons etc. Trackpad is terrible, but its also a touchscreen. You also have some nice trim improvements.

not fast? How fast do you need for street legal? This 450 is similar 40i. Under 5s to 60 is not enough? It’s not rocket but when my foot is a bit heavy in S+ from a stop, it’s way too fast for me.
i've gotten 5.3s to 60 which isn't too shabby i think, especially for a 5000lbs SUV! the short gearing and electric motor contribute a lot to that though, once you're above 50 it stops feeling fast and just becomes decently quick... from 50 to 100 for instance my LS 400 is just slightly quicker
what impresses me more though is how good the mpgs are, going around town it's very possible to get in the mid to high 20s and over 30 on the highway

3.5 to 60 and 9.0 or better to 100 is what I like on the streets, anything more is unwieldy since you can't actually really use the power/feel it for long.
That said my next goal car is going to be a sub 2 sec 0-60 build so I'm probably a hypocrite.
It’s funny how people make reliability statements about modern bmw when they compare or hear the stories from decades ago. What’s even worse is when it comes from the 16-lemon fan boys.
consumers usually stay away from older BMWs because new tech usually becomes more difficult to maintain or repair further down the road. My brothers BMW is now 9 years old, and the repairs/maintenance items are now showing up. His car has never left him stranded but it does need more maintenance than a Lexus.
Here is a 5 year old X5
not terrible. But at 10 years old? Likely more maintenance
now 10 years. I would bet a new 2023 X5 will be this costly to maintain at 10 years of age

We're talking about new BMWs, not 10 year old BMWs. People who buy new ones don't consider 10 year old ones. 65% of BMW buyers also lease.
Yeah and probably more so for GLEs. Some may find surprising but a lot of people lease Lexus as well. I remember seeing a post from Motorola about how many lease GX. Was it like 70%?

2018 is previous generation. Of course you have your points there. If someone is interested in a 10 year old car, of course there are many better options than German cars. No one would argue this. It's almost like fact. But some still do want to get in knowing the potential issues.
