Why don't they make it handle well, and have plenty of power. Then we have something worth 90 grand.

Well, it depends on what you regard as "plenty of power". If it runs a 12 sec 1/4 mile stock, then that to me is plenty of power.

If we're talking acceleration, a Z06 would absolutely dust a NSX... they can do the 60mph in 3.9seconds. The handling isn't way bad either, it pulls higher g's on the skidpad than an M3 even... which i know doesn't mean everything, but it definetely means its no slouch. And i believe a Lambo can hold its on against a viper, i'm not saying it'd def. beat it, but all Lambo's made these days run sub-4 second 0-60's. I think the NSX is a great car, but it just can't compete these days when we're talking value. When u look at what else you can get for $90,000.... M5, M3, E55 Kompressor, RS6, Porsche 996, Viper, Z06, Maserati... I just don't think it provides enough. However, thats just my opinion... I still think its a beautiful car that I'm sure is very fun to drive. Its one of the most daily-driveable sports cars there is.... i believe it uses a version of the same DOHC 3.2L powering the TL and CL type S? And as someone mentioned, there is a huge aftermarket and a lot you can do with it.

I would hold off on any judgement of this new one until we see how much it weighs. a 2,500 lb. car with 300hp would be a very fast car

Yea, although this thread is talking about the new one, I was talking about the current one... the new one will be quite a bout out of hell if its light... however, when we're talking about speeds of over 100mph, raw power starts to become more important. Either way I'd still like to applaud Honda... this new concept looks great... I'm sure the back will grow on me.

Get the NSX!!!! If you've wanted one, then that's what I'd get. I've always wanted one. Did you know you can lease a new one from Acura for $795/month?!?! That's a pretty good deal. I've been thinking about doing that now. If I lease the current model and love it, I could buy it in 3 years at lease end. If the new model comes out and is awesome (and the old model starts to depreciate rapidly), then I can turn in my keys in three years on the current model and buy one of those. Sometimes, new models come out and you long for the older style. This seems like a way to avoid being screwed by getting the old style and later longing for the new one, but losing your a-- because you old model is now worthless. Or, waiting and finding out that the new one sucks and wishing you could find a good used old style NSX. Now people that have them are asking a premium for them. Just my two cents.

Oops. I put this in the wrong thread. I meant to be in the one where the guy was contemplating selling his Lexus for an NSX. Sorry!!!!!

looks good

how important is weight? look at the new elise...190hp, 1950 lbs, 1/4 in mid 12s consistently...basically can keep up w/a z06, not bad at all IMO

now if the nsx manages to even come at arnd 2700hp like the current one but has 350 hp, it should prove 2 be very quick....rmbr a stock nsx-R (jdm & euro only) can stay w/a stock R34GT-R in the 1/4 mile

Not sure if they can make the weight that low. From what I read they want to keep the cost down it probably will not have an all aluminum body; and in order to have its performance on par with the next gen RX7, Supra, Skyline GTR, 911, Ferrari, Corvette I think a V8 (or V6 with turbos) that is capable of pumping out at least 400 bhp is almost required.

At least that is what I hope they will do, I'd trade in my NSX in a heartbeat.

The way I see it any high-end sports/ exotic car (ie one with 'hey look at me' styling) absolutely has to outrun the common enough $78,000 MB E55 sedan. So Honda needs to do whatever it takes to match that level of HP/ Weight ratio and more importantly TQ/ Weight ratio. I'd be pissed if I rolled off the lot in my new 'exotic' and couldn't pull convincingly on a bone stock mercedes sedan. So what kind of HP & TQ does this thing need to get 120 MPH 1/4 mile trap speeds if it ends up at 2,800 lbs.?
