Fixed it for you.

Yes, 6500 lbs. is a lot of pork, but it isn't much (if any) more than some very large SUVs from GM and Ford that have been in production for years. And the long-discontinued Ford Excursion, as I recall from my test-drive was over 7000 lbs. empty....but it, IMHO, was risky to drive. Its weight was, IMO, clearly too heavy for the suspension and underpinnings Ford gave it.....it tended to wander all over the road, and the front end bounced up and down as you came to a stop.

With this new Lightning, the Chief Engineer clearly explained the new independent suspension and how it operated.

The upcoming Hummer is around 9000 lbs…. These electric trucks definitely aren’t light vehicles…

thanks Mike!

MUCH better process than with the Bronco launch. This time, you just make a reservation, pay a small deposit, and you figure out the details when they open up for actual orders. With the Bronco, you needed to choose the the trim you wanted plus you had the First Edition rush to factor in and the website couldn’t cope. This time it was all pretty seamless. Converting my Bronco reservation to an actual order was super easy, it was all done via email with the dealer, hopefully this will be something similar.

I found this interesting and surprising at the same time -

Ford is using a heavier-gauge steel for the frame of the F-150 Lightning, but did not undertake a complete redesign to integrate the battery pack into the chassis.

By staying close to the current model, Ford can offer the electric truck sooner, at a competitive price "and make money on it," said Darren Palmer, general manager for Ford's electric vehicles.

I don't find it surprising. I have said for a while that the opportunity for the OEM manufacturers is there if they can add electric models to their existing assembly lines...gas/hybrid and now electric F150 will all be sharing a significant amount of components. I am sure the electric components will be shared with the MachE and electric transit van to help with their costs.

Sounds like they are already addressing some of the issues with the Mach-E in terms of the nav system integrating with charging stations. Then there's the frunk and the huge number of power ports... This thing is simply too cool.

$39K is for a commercial/fleet version. Likely won't be found at Dealers.

And Ford has been pretty good about going after dealers that charge ridiculous adjustments, or shifting allocation away from them.

Sometimes they can be ordered from dealers, though.

Maybe that's the case recently......but remember the Ford GT? I saw them marked up almost 100% at some dealerships, when you could find them at all. Same for some of the higher-line Shelby Mustangs......though not quite as high in the mark-ups as for the GT.

This is FAR from a Ford GT or even a Shelby Mustang. Ford has been pretty active with the Mustang Mach-E, and upcoming Bronco launch to deter dealers from such behavior.

I've learned that 99% of what Jill posts is the opposite of reality. I think we're being trolled hard.

Speaking of Tesla, this F150 will make Cybertruck sales go to zero.

I think that picture is referring to the Ford charge station that can use the F150 battery to power your house in an emergency. Very strange photo though
