Did I miss the memo on the upcoming TLX's SH-AWD?

Some fancy wheels and body kits will bring that up to $65-70K easily.

Who would pay for it? I'm not sure, but the Civic Type R flies out the dealerships at $40K.
Base price is not going to be that high, nobody is going to spend German money for an Acura.

I don't think you're giving SH-AWD enough credit.

Still, the TLX is a huge and heavy car compared to a 3-Series, Acura will have to do some serious engineering to get it to handle anywhere near the ability of a 3 Series.

I wouldn't buy those cars brand new either.

But I'd buy a used Lexus before buying a used Acura. 🤷‍♂️

Hell, I'd buy a used Lexus before a brand new Acura.

Straight from Acura's press release:

The TLX Type S, with Acura's new 3.0-liter V6 Turbo and standard Super Handling All-Wheel Drive, arrives next spring well-equipped in the low to mid $50,000s.
https://acuranews.com/en-US/releases...late-september

"Well equipped" would be the standard features checked off in the boxes. Note that it's missing a good amount of items from the Advance Package, and doesn't mention other pricey extras like the Optional Wheel Package.

Lexus is charging about $10k too high for the RCF. I think if they had the IS500 with the V8 and priced around $55k to topping out at $60k, it would be a success. The first ISF was a good car in the segment and something that could legitimately hang with an M3 but the later F cars weren't as competitive IMO. So ditch the F moniker and make the V8 a trim package and a bit cheaper

Lexus overall shouldn't price themselves in-line with the Germans...the brand just isn't strong enough to justify the price.

Wasn't Lexus recently ranked third among luxury brands? Its a shame they are conservative with power. They have everything else imo. But I guess their conservative stance on power is why their cars are reliable.

I agree about the RCF, which is i why I'd buy it used. After all it's a Lexus.

I don't think it'll hit $70K, but fully loaded, assuming Acura lets you load all the options on the Type S, I would expect this to be between $65-70K.
I'm still a hell of a lot closer with my inital estimate of $50K for the Type S than your $70K estimate.

Acura hasn't really shown that they'll have significant packages on the Type S as of yet. Aside from some accessory wheels.

Well, if you think a $55K car is fully loaded when it's missing the Advanced Package's remote engine start, power folding mirrors, puddle lights, rain-sensing wipers(!), heated rear seats and steering wheel, a windshield de-icer, fog lights, a surround-view camera, and a heads-up display, in addition to a handful of other unlisted packages.... sure.

You're going off some hypothetical fully loaded build, that Acura hasn't shown any intention to have these "unlisted" packages that you are counting on. Even so, those features you've listed don't add $15,000.

They add to 8-10k or more.......which pushes it well into the 60's. 50k is wayyyy off unless you're buying a base model. Anything over 60k and his estimate is more accurate.

How does that equal $70K? Acura is not Porsche, they never have offered a ton of options for their cars. Most come standard. You're way off. The TLX doesn't even have folding mirrors or cooled seats but you think it will have 15K worth of options LOL.
