Pretty terrible timing to offer trial XM now, as drivers across the globe are self quarantining. They got no where to drive to, no reason to get into the car! I guess you can sit in your car to listen or have a portable unit at home. Since I have GROM I don't even bother with Lexus Infotainment anymore.
I had XM radio since mid last year and just before I parted with my RX300, but felt it was not what I remember when I had it down in Mexico. I heard the same songs played on channels I use to like over and over.
That's how it started with my 2006 LS430 maybe in 2017--it was a free 2 mo. used car trial. Since I've been doing it on my wife's 2011 GM, when the trial ended I used the name your price tool that Billy Shatner taught us all. I told them I don't mind it, but I only want to pay $20 for 5 mos. As you know off the top of my head if they say $29.9x, it's like $38 after taxes and royalty and fees. I've been doing $4/mo. out the door for 3 renewals now. Just a month ago they said no 5 mos. promo, only 6 now, so I said ok 6 mos is $24 out the door. I told the guy I can't pay a penny more than $24 if you want to sell me 6 mos., and that's after taxes and royalties and fees. So he made it $24.01 to test me, and I took it. What's cool is that it includes online, so now that no cars drive, I listen in the house. The service is whatever you want to pay. It would not surprise me if people get it free for life. My mom's 2006 Acura had it for 10 years now, she's never paid anything for it, it's just there lol

Free is free. Maybe we are stuck at home for 90 days; maybe less than that. That's the whole point; when the stay at home order is lifted, you have the rest of your free trial left. And the free trials that come with new cars are usually All Access plans; and those currently include on-line and app access.
Are they allowing those who do subscribe to defer payments for 3 months?
All they need to do is to put up a credit, it's the same net result. It's been my experience that after the initial trial period they always deal with 5 and 6 month promo blocks (my wife's been on a promo since early 2012--it's like BJ's warehouse, you can have a free trial for years) . Sometimes they pretend to talk to a manager, other times they just issue the credit in real time. What I mean is you have a 6 mo subscription and you want to defer payments for 3 mos? I just give you a 3 mo credit. It's neither here nor there if you listen, all I really want as XM is the renewal (which when you get a good deal you want to literally call the day before). The name of the game is to get $0.01 or more from you upon renewal.
