Lexus Finally Makes A Decision About Aging IS Sedan
terrible news.for those who say lexus has lost their way with a third refresh... I dont think so. this is typical for the company. to drag out a platform as long as possible to milk residual profit. look at the Sequoia/Tundra/4Runny/LX/GX/Sienna. for the vehicles not primarily their bread and butter (Highlander/RX, Camry, Corolla, ES) they have always done this. But their lack of innovations from the engine standpoint is inexcusable, no matter how good their 2GR engine is.

I'm fine with them using the current platform/chassis, as it still handles well. So if they do that, with new engines, significantly updated styling, interior updates, and new tech, then I think it's fine. If it's limited to a new grill and the addition of AA/CP and such, then I view it as a signal that it will likely be the last IS and that they don't see the value in investing in it anymore, much like they've done with the GS.
Awd is totally unneccessary with a good set of winter tires, and much less an alternative to a real RWD sedan.

Ah yes, that makes sense. 2nd refresh leads to the 3rd version. Thanks!
Only other thing that I have to add is, while I believe this may indeed be true, it is just a rumor at this point. I haven't seen any confirmation from Toyota/Lexus, so I think the thread title is a bit misleading.

Why not Turbo the V8 like AMG does with the C63? WTF are they doing over there? A 340M will smoke an GSF, their M3/4 is not even in the same league performance-wise. Don't even get me started on the C63/S, there is nothing in the current Lexus line up keeping up with that.

Somebody already put that V8 in the current Gen IS , or how about just re-design the car and make it fit then. While their at it, make the grill smaller. Lexus is lazy and seems to have given up on performance.
